“Lovely stay and would return”
Lovely room in Club Volcán with excellent view ( room 745). Half board, great breakfast, afternoon tea ( also good) and buffet evening meal which was varied enough for us . Desserts could be a bit better as the sweets at breakfast and afternoon tea were very nice. The complex is lovely , César Manrique style , and the staff are fantastic in all areas. You can book lovely trips at reception, walk to beautiful unspoilt beaches such as Playa de las mujeres or playa Papagayo. Plenty of restaurants around if you just go B & B.
“A magical hotel providing the most relaxing holiday.”
Loved this place from the minute we entered the magical reception area until we left. The hotel entrance, via a replica church, together with a chanting monks background sets the scene for a wonderful stay. The reception area provides many comfy seating options and a friendly atmosphere. It overlooks the most incredible rainforest environment for a relaxing lounge with a cascading waterfall, a lazy river with bridge and a multitude of tropical plants. Beautiful. The shows every evening at 9.30 in the pub on the lower floor were excellent. There were a variety of acts of the highest quality including a rock band, Motown tribute and a Tina Turner singer. Many pools provide different locations for relaxing and sun bathing - including a heated pool. The whole ambiance is relaxing. Many, many sun beds too. We had a basic room and it was roomy with many thoughtful features. The balcony was designed to be sheltered from the wind but with plenty of sunshine. The rear gate provides direct access to Marina Rubicon with a modern complex offering lots of restaurants and bars. The promenade goes for miles to the right for the main areas of Playa Blance and to the right for the more up market hotels and eventually Papagayo with its wonderful beaches.
“Beautiful Hotel”
Wow, from stepping into the reception area with the beautiful waterfall to the abbey area lit with candles and music we felt the luxury engulf us. We booked bed and breakfast but before arriving we upgraded to the club. Was so worth it, the breakfast, afternoon tea and open bar each day felt a little special. The staff were amazing and so attentive. The beautiful pool area and bar for the Club volcan was uplifted by the views over the sea. Again staff were so attentive and friendly. We used the buffet restaurant once during our stay, just down to arriving a little later, we found it good and food was palatable but we did enjoy going out for meals as so much choice around hotel/marina. We used the spa on a rainy day, a little disappointment as the steam room was broken and we found the pool was a little cool. This was included in the upgrade to Club though. We only used once. We are looking forward to booking again for next year and we will def upgrade to Club Volcan again
“Great Stay, Not Quite 5 Star”
We recently stayed, for the first time, for 9 nights, at the hotel in Club Volcan. A great stay and the hotel has many fine points, but a couple of things stopped me giving 5 stars. The design of the hotel is excellent. The entrance through a replica of a church in Teguise, with candles and haunting church music, through to a dome shaped ‘volcano’ with views downward to greenery, hanging plants and small pools. Very impressive start. The whole site is designed like a small town, with many paths and the rooms are well spread out. Everywhere was well maintained and spotless. We noticed, during our stay, that all the sun beds and side tables around the main pool were replaced with new ones, so it is good that the hotel is investing in keeping everything up to date. Our experience with check-in, at Reception, was not particularly friendly (nor was it at check-out). There were two couples checking in in front of us, (which was not a problem) and we noticed welcome drinks and a small snack on a tray next to each of them and, after they checked in, that a porter appeared, after a little time, to take their luggage. When we checked in the tray had been refilled with two drinks and snacks next to us, but no reference was made to them and we were left to assume that they were for us. At the end of check in, no reference was made to how we would get to our room, so we picked up the welcome drinks and snacks (assuming they were for us) and waited in two nearby chairs, with luggage, until the porter reappeared. I must say, at this point, that this was in contrast to all the other staff (including the porter) who were all friendly, helpful and professional. A particular shout out to the ladies in the Club Volcan breakfast room who were lovely. Our Club Volcan room was excellent, spotless, spacious, well equipped bathroom, large bed, seating area and a small balcony with a great view out across the marina. The only downside was that the Wi-Fi was not very reliable, at times. The breakfast was also excellent, with a wide buffet choice and hot items, cooked to order, that were very tasty and beautifully presented. We also tried the afternoon tea one day, which was very good. We did not try the open bar, but it looked extensive. Both of these are included in the Club Volcan price. We were disappointed that the only evening meal option was a buffet. We would have expected a hotel of this standing to have fine dining, casual waiter service (perhaps in one of the bars) and buffet options in the evening, at least. We did try the buffet, one evening, there was a wide choice, but we were disappointed with this and ate out at the various restaurants in the marina, in the evening. Having said that, the main restaurant is, again, beautifully designed, overlooking the main swimming pool and lit beautifully. The Club Volcan swimming pool area has very comfortable sun beds and also a number of large Balinese beds, which were extremely comfortable! The pool bar with lunchtime food was great, again tasty and well presented. It would, however, have been good to have a small dessert choice, perhaps ice cream or a cake. We didn’t take advantage of any of the daytime events (including gong meditation and pool bike) or live evening music, so can’t comment on these. We did use the gym, but not the spa. At check-out there was no friendly ‘I hope you had a good stay’ or ‘Have a good journey home’, just a functional paying of the bill. Overall, we had a very good stay and the hotel should be congratulated on many points. The Club Volcan experience also made it special for us.
“Perfect Winter Break”
We loved everything about this hotel, it is in a great locatlion so close to the marina with its lovely shops, bars and restaurants and a twice weekly craft market. We had a nice comfortable room that was kept immaculately clean. Food was really good both at breakfast and the evening meal, with a big variety and some themed evenings, Mexican, Italian, Spanish etc. Staff all around the hotel were pleasant and seemed happy to be working there. Evening entertainment was very good, each night something different. We especially enjoyed the classical candle lit concert in 'the church' and we were lucky enough to see it twice during our stay. Also loved Rock It, such talented musicians, who played a great variety of classic rock. This was our first time at the Livvo Volcan but we will certainly be back.
“Real class”
Beautiful location. All services and facilities laid out well around volcanic rock gardens on several levels. It is a big place but the layout makes it seem otherwise. Lots of nooks and crannies for you to find your own privacy. Staff helpful and pleasant. Church in reception is unusual and beautiful. Don't miss the piano concert in there if you get the chance. Huge pool areas, lots of space, not many children, lots of sunbeds. Back gate gives direct access to the marina.
