HOTEL LOS ARENALES DE JERTE

Very good location in the middle of the Valley, walking distance to nice hiking and close to other interesting villages. Very friendly staff and hotel with own restaurant.

Lovely room

The hotel description fit all my criteria. It had parking outside, a tapas bar/cafe and a restaurant. Located on the N.110 road 2.5km south west of town and about 40km from Plasencia, it doesn’t, as with most main road hotels in Spain, have a specific address (this one is Crt. Nacional 110-Hotel-Km 368 BJ) so Google Maps was needed to pinpoint its location. My room (at the rear of the hotel) and bathroom weren’t overly large but totally adequate; but don’t you just hate it when the shower is in the centre of the bath pointing into the bathroom rather than at the end of the bath? Why do they do that? It’s totally illogical. And when the wall fitting which holds the shower head is loose, twists round and won’t point downwards it makes it impossible to stand underneath it. ‘Twas thus here. Because I had to reschedule my route for two days down the line (don’t ask !!!) I was late for dinner. It was served in the rather sparce and dull bar but boy, it was good !! I had some lovely meals during my two week wander around mid-west Spain but this was so different and so utterly delicious, I don’t think anything else topped it. The receptionist was lovely, the barman and waiter rather dour and inattentive but that doesn’t detract for the fact that it was an enjoyable stay in an hotel and restaurant I would recommend if you’re ever in this area.

We were treated exceptionally well and upgraded to a suite with balcony looking out at the natural reserve. For hiking it’s within walking distance from key trailheads.

The host, a marvelous lady, very kind and helpful, included breakfast with our stay. The room was great, with a view of the mountain. Peaceful, quiet, good to relax. Bar/restaurant very nice. Location fantastic, literally by the entrance to the Gargant a del Infierno Park. Swimming pool too. Excellent stay, most definitely will return to Jerte and stay here.
