Hotel Mar de Plata

The room was super hot, no aircon. So I has to leave the windows open. Which in the middle of a Spanish town towards the street (although it‘s a small street) does not work!! Even on a normal weekday…People screaming around, dogs barking…and the worst: cars accelerating like on a race track!!! Could not sleep at all….

Lovely staff who looked after us on arrival and at breakfast. Very comfortable room with clean bathroom and plentiful hot water. Good position for the bus station and the Camino. Very nice buffet breakfast. Not much in Sarria. Basic restaurants with ordinary food

We arrived in Santiago by plane, then hired a car to Sarria and stayed at Hotel Mar de Plata for one night. The communication with the hotel prior to our arrival was fantastic - they helped with drivers, luggage transport, and any other questions we had. The room was basic, but very nice - clean, spacious and a good bathroom. It was a great place to begin our Camino and I recommend.

We arrived very late at night,reception was closed but after a phone call within 5 minutes we were welcomed. Comfortable rooms, nice shower and a great breakfast, lots of choice with fresh foods. Supermarket literally 3 minutes walk away. Great start for the Camino walk.

One night stay as part of Camino Positives: room clean: staff pleasant Be aware this is a very tiny room (single) Nice touches: toothbrush Despite power cut managed to sort us breakfast which was impressive Less than ideal no help with luggage up six stairwells. Appreciate power cut but in dark up all those stairs with no assistance wasn’t great 😌
