Hotel Marquesa

I have lived in Tenerife for 10 years and always wanted to stay in Marquesa as it’s historical and one of the very first hotels in Puerto de la Cruz. I was coming as a getaway on a Saturday night and booked a standard single room. It was perfect for me because it was tucked away in the far end, which is dark and cool during the hot summer days and nights, and almost no noise from parties till 2am come thru. It had a nice lobby, all Canarian style buildings, nice outside rooftop pool area and views of the valley, square and ocean. Special thanks to Rosy, Jesus and Ariana for making my stay even better.

Don't waste your time or money. We booked through EasyJet Holidays and arrived on the Monday night late June 2025 and walked out on the Thursday Morning !! terrible prison like room, nice view across the alley from our window of the concrete wall of the hotel next door ! The room had no fridge or tea / coffee facilities we asked for a double room and got two single beds pushed together ( ideal if you fall out with your partner I suppose ) Breakfast was a shambles ! left over tinned carrot and soggy sprouts from the night before ( who has sprouts for breakfast !! ) the bacon was so thin you could see through it, but bite it and you will think is chewing gum ! just awful The roof top pool should be advertised as roof top bath its so small and the glass infinity pool view wasn't great as the glass was all milky in colour as for the sunbeds they looked like they had never been cleaned ! 3 star no way, we just walked out on the Thursday morning and went elsewhere.

After reading some reviews we were somewhat apprehensive, this was dismissed on arrival. Short walk to hotel, 2 mins from drop off. Not a problem at all as I have some mobility restrictions. The hotel is stunning, quaint, clean and situated in a square with a church as the centre peace, with lots of shops and restaurants on your doorstep and easy short walk to the beach, promenade, more restaurant’s and shops. Hotel- clean, beautiful plants and rooms are spacious and we were very lucky to have a private roof terrance that was amazing and added extra to our experience and privacy. Fridge in room, air con, safe and TV. . BTW go to settings on your remote and you can change the language settings, so plenty to watch ! Beds made daily, towels changed when we required ( leave used ones on floor in bathroom as instructed). Food- we can only comment on the breakfast and again apprehensive, but pleasantly surprised, every pastry you could ask for, cooked breakfast, continental breakfast, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt fruit juices and bread. Pool - clean and rooftop area has plenty of comfortable sun loungers and parasols if you needed them. Reception and bar staff- friendly and helpful. We would definitely return, we completely relaxed and had the best time as a couple. Eating out every evening, be aware no measures for the drinks! Had a great day out on a boat trip and enjoyed an evening at the theatre for a flamenco evening. Drinks cheaper than UK, eating out roughly the same as UK. Looking forward to returning. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE REVIEWS. We are glad we did nt.

I recently returned to the marquesa hotel having enjoyed my time the year before. What a difference a year makes. My room was robbed of all cash. My cash was locked in my case. By mistake I left the keys to my case in the room in a small wallet purse on the room table. The case was opened my wallet was emptied of all cash (no credit cards taken or passport) then the wallet put back relocking the case and replacing the key inside the wallet purse on the table. There was also some money in the small wallet purse with the case key but this wasn't taken. I reported the incident to the management who investigated saying the only people who entered my room were myself and the chambermaid. This was confirmed through the room key-card entry system. Management said perhaps I left the door open (I did not) and someone from outside robbed the room. Who from outside the hotel would open a case relock it after getting the money and then replace keys? Unlikely as they would be in and out as quickly as possible so not to be caught. I believe this was a theft from within. The hotel advised they were not responsible as I didn't take a room safe and I of course could not prove who the thief was. It was a reasonable amount of cash so I warn anyone visiting the hotel to be very careful. I was given a complimentary drink from the manager a free safety deposit box following the incident and an extension to my room stay by a couple of hours on leaving date. A small gesture in light of the money stolen. Unfortunately and sadly it's not enough for me to ever return to the hotel after this terrible experience.
