Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Centrally located with close proximity to shops and the beach, which was positively noted.
Food selection was good and meals were fair; however, the restaurant atmosphere was chaotic.
Generally good value compared to other local hotels despite some issues.
The overall experience was marred by service issues, despite some positive aspects noted.
Rooms were described as fine but suffered from poor soundproofing.
The rooms were reasonably clean, but poorly soundproofed, affecting overall comfort.
“A lovely mid-range stay!”
staff are kind and speak some english drinks are reasonably priced (large sangria and a corona for €8) breakfast has options for us fussy eaters, (vegetarian options) dinner was fabulous with lots of english foods! the pool is way better than the pictures. they don’t do it justice and it has been updated! the sun loungers are so comfy but get there early as there are wars… you can usually always find a space local shop carrefour VERY near by, cheap! up at the rooftop bar is a load of gorgeous sunloungers where you can relax! there is no lack of space to relax! music plays and there is live entertainment on the evenings housekeepers come every day and beds are properly made, they even arranged my jellycat bear, put my shoes away and rolled up my hair straightener which was a lovely personal touch and something they didn’t have to do! guides are translated into english and german transfer details and excursions are available at the reception breakfast 8-10 lunch 1-2 dinner 7-9 pool 10-8 the hairdryer is free and hot! the area: there’s not much to do in the area, we recommend if you are wanting barcelona go closer than pineda de mar!!!!! beach is lovely but a little rocky, sea shoes recommend! sea front is full of lovely and reasonably priced shops and restaurants/ coffee bars and little habadasheries (I can’t spell that word). it was my first time travelling without my parents or someone in charge as my partner had never been abroad and we are only 18! we wanted to get the train to barcelona and i was incredibly confused about where we needed to be and ended up having a “panic attack” hyperventilating, crying, the whole sha-bang. an absolute angel of a woman working at the train station came out from behind the booth, she helped me cool down, calm down and then walked me and my partner (who has never been abroad and speaks no Spanish so is no use), to the correct train. even in the little shops here we have just been met with kindness, i speak only basic spanish as i am still learning and everyone was very encouraging but also speak pretty much fluent english! con: doesn’t seem to be anywhere to get cold water or drinkable water for free (they seem to be capitalising off the fact you are hot, we payed €3 for two cups of ice and €3 for a bottle of cold water at dinner!!) - [ ] double bed was just two singles put together, we kept sliding away, there is no way to cuddle or be close and found it hard to get comfy! (we called it the chastity bed, this place is NOT for honeymooners, seriously, we tried and we are young). - [ ] no amenities such as coffee and tea/ kettle just soaps and hairdryer please be careful of being scammed by the transfer on the way home!!! we payed £69 to someone who said they were from tui for us!! don’t forget your suncream!
“Worst experience in a hotel !”
Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at this hotel, and we wanted to share it to help others avoid the same disappointment. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were bothering the staff every time we asked a simple question at the reception. The front desk staff often seemed cold, annoyed, or simply uninterested. Also, unless you speak fluent Spanish, it’s almost impossible to communicate, no effort is made to speak or understand English or French. For a hotel that claims to welcome international guests, this is a serious issue. The rooms were fine overall, reasonably clean, but very poorly soundproofed, you can hear everything from the corridors, other rooms, doors slamming, etc. Getting a good night’s rest was nearly impossible. The meals were fairly good, nothing amazing but acceptable. However, the restaurant atmosphere was terrible: staff yelling across the room, running around in chaos, and even shouting at guests on several occasions. Far from what you’d expect in a relaxing holiday setting. The worst part, though, was how the shared facilities were managed. We were kicked out of the pool twice, at 7:15 pm and again at 7:20 pm, even though it was supposed to close at 8 pm. The excuse given was “maintenance,” yet we later saw the same staff member who asked us to leave sitting at the bar chatting a few minutes later. As if that wasn’t enough, we were also asked to leave the bar, right after being served and paying, because of a card tournament scheduled several hours later. The bartender was extremely rude, condescending, and even mocked us openly. Totally unacceptable behavior toward paying guests. In short, the service was terrible, except for a few genuinely kind employees doing their best amidst the chaos. The management is poor, communication is non-existent, and the overall atmosphere is anything but welcoming. We absolutely do not recommend this hotel : look elsewhere if you’re hoping for a relaxing, respectful, and enjoyable stay. First time we had to say something but this was very bad. 0 respect to customer. AVOID IT
“Fab holiday”
Really friendly hotel could not do enough for you …food was good not to my taste but very good selection…..very clean….central location all in all a fab holiday will go back 🩷🩷
“Great holiday!”
The hotel is an hour from Barcelona airport. Its centrally located and 10 to 15 mins walk to the beach and lots of shops and restaurants. The train station is also close by. We went to Calella which is one stop away, it has lots of nice alleyway shops. There's a huge market on seafront promenade every Friday. The hotel has very friendly staff and great choice of breakfast and dinner. We had a very pleasant stay there and really enjoyed our holiday.
“Would recommend this hotel to a friend!”
I was a little nervous about this booking after reading a couple of reviews, but I really didn't need to be. We had a fantastic time here. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was good, and the roof top pool was great. It was also excellent value for money, especially compared to other local hotels. I read some complaints about the bells in the church tower - I think it stops from midnight to 8am, so you still get a good sleep. And you can always wear ear plugs if you want a lie in. Overall, I'd definitely recommend for a budget friendly holiday! Thank you Hotel Merce.
“Dont waste your money,fo somewhere else.”
Definately budget hotel, even though we didnt pay budget price with Tui. Met some that paid alot less than what we did. Standard rooms quite small and definately standard. We stayed bed and breakfast, standard buffet breakfast, same everyday, bland and boring.Apparently the food is locally sourced, the small sausages at breakfast was obviously sourced out of a tin from a local shop. Pool area ok,not at all child friendly so dont take your children here, better hotels to stay in.Pool small, even though it looked alot bigger on the photos, but it wasnt, struggle for sunbeds near pool if you get there later then 10.So going there in July and August will be a nightmare. Evening entertainment at the hotel saturday and sunday only.it was ok. Staff,a course in customer service is needed for some members on reception, especially middle aged lady with fair hair.Unhelpful and just plain rude. Barstaff were lovely. Pineda itself was ok,quiet, plenty of bars and restraurants in walking distance. No entertainment in the bars like singers or musicians.Found one bar at the seafront that had a singer on and that was all. Alot of Spainish holiday there, and sometimes we felt we were second class citizens, when being served in bars and shops. Not a great deal of excursions available here. Weather was fantastic, made the most of our holiday, staying in this hotel. Definately wouldnt stay in this hotel again, We did pay more that what it was worth for a week but that was down to Tui. If we had paid 400-450 each for b n b it may have been worth it,but paying £625 each it certainly wasnt worth the money we had paid for a week,so we were disapointed with standards in the hotel, food, entertainment, some rude staff. Alot better places to go and stay,so shop around. Really would bypass this one guys, wish we had done
