“Disappointing and overpriced!”

Just about everything about this property other than the view was a huge disappointment! Firstly the address listed on booking.com takes you to the completely wrong place, so finding it took a bit of work as we had no phone signal. The bedroom we were allocated was on a lower ground floor and the first thing we noticed was a pervasive smell of damp/mould as we went down the stairs. The corridor was dark and oppressive with water damaged walls and peeling plaster. On entering the room the damp smell became more obvious with mould stains on the walls and ceiling, and peeling wallpaper. The bathroom although dated was very clean but the sealant round the bath was also showing signs of mould. The property states that they supply toiletries which we assumed to mean soap, shampoo, shower gel etc. but our bathroom only had a non descript hand wash. The TV remote didn’t work and the WiFi reception was so poor in our room that we had to drive back into Ribadesella to find a cafe/bar by to use the internet. The breakfast was adaquate but definitely not worth the money and did not live up to the description given to us in check when we were told that they only used ‘premium produce’ We realised before checking in that we were paying 100€ more than that days advertised price. When we discussed this with them at check in they seemed disinterested and told us it was because we had booked breakfast and would be served premium products. All in all a hugely disappointing and over priced hotel.

“I would go back to Ribadesella in a heartbeat and stay at the dreamy Mirador de Sella”

The best

In a town known for its beauty, this location has the most beautiful view imaginable. Views in all directions! Sea, coast, pastoral fields, and mountains. The proprietor was also friendly, warm, and welcoming.

We loved everything, including getting off the beaten path.

I read other reviews and have the feeling that I've stayed in another hotel. Rooms are tiny - there is almost no space to unpack medium size luggage somewhere on the floor. Room's condition could be better, bath stained with rust, no heating. Looks like there was no renovation for at least 10 years. There was no information about wifi anywhere, and there was nobody to ask because reception was almost always empty. The breakfast is too poor for 12€. Overall, the hotel is not terrible, but IMO it isn't worth its price and 9+ rating. We stayed in way better hotels for a cheaper price in Cantabria and Asturias.
