Hotel Nuevo Julios by Olda

Decor a little dated but not a real problem.

It was one of the more expensive accommodations I booked on my Camino and by some margin the worst. The hotel was more or less empty. Check in was haphazard and no one seemed to know if breakfast was included as stated on BDC. The room (room 10) was small, basic, no external window (so no view), no ventilation, no aircon, no kettle, no facility to make a tea, a tiny TV with local channels only. AND, NO BREAKFAST - which would have made the price reasonable - but the dinning area was all locked up in the morning and no one was there - so there was never any intention to serve breakfast.

Check-in/ out was a bit odd. The waitress for the restaurant checked me in. I suspect she did double duty although she might've just been filling in for someone. When I went to check out the restaurant was closed and no one was around. There was also a delivery driver trying to get in so I let him in but worried I was doing something wrong. I ended up walking back to my room and just putting the keys on the desk and leaving.

The room is passable and ok... But this was the worst quality-to-price ratio I experienced on the Camino. I always spent less (70 Euro for a double!) and experienced better stays. The room was clean but very basic, with a window facing a small air shaft—no view and hardly any fresh air. No breakfast or dinner available on-site. Despite being a hotel, the reception is closed in the afternoon. Also, the address listed on Booking.com is not accurate. The location isn’t appealing, but it is conveniently close to the Camino route.

It was fairly loud at night.
