Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Staff made guests feel like family and were praised for excellent service.
Convenient location but had noise issues from the nearby roads.
Overall a satisfactory experience with room for improvement.
Good variety of activities but some facilities could be improved.
Some felt the price was high compared to the quality of food and amenities.
Rooms described as spacious and nice, although some had outdated elements.
“Winter Palace”
Just love this hotel, the pools, the jacuzzis, the staff and even the location. Day bar is fun and friendly; the night bar needs a little work. Roof bar (over day bar) should be used for slow cooked pork/paella or bbq. Great stay, lovely.
“Leave the climate control of the rooms to your guests.”
Pool and gardens were beautiful. Proximity to town great.
No independent aircon control. Centrally, and sparingly controlled which spoiled the comfort element of our stay completely.
“Very nice & comfortable & clean.”
Breakfast good. Evening meal a little expensive.
Hotel situated a little far from front. Had to get taxis
“It was ok, Could be great.”
The hotel sits fairly high up in the residential area approx 15 mins walk down to the beach, quite steep but they do provide a shuttle. There are no other bars local to the hotel which is a bit of an issue if you feel like a change. The guests are 90% Germans. May even be a higher percentage. The hotel has a very impressive frontage and the downstairs foyer, bar , entertainment area is very nice, plenty of comfy chairs and a abundance of greenery, it has a smart modern decor. The pool area is great, excellent view of volcano, warm pool, nice jacuzzi the area is covered in palm trees and shrubs. Plenty of sunbeds. The rooms, are clean but a bit dated. The shower is integral to bath so not good it's an issue climbing in and out, needs a bar or handle fitting to allow safe access as it is easy to slip. Aircon is on constantly and cannot be altered, had to remove power of a night to switch off so room in darkness. Cleaners excellent, no issues. There was some external road noise of a night some idiot on a motorbike, not hotels fault. Food if a night was great but very very busy, also some of the older male waiters would walk straight through you. If they don't want to be there they should work elsewhere. Breakfast repetitive, no sausages no mushrooms and very very busy. Orange juice is horrible cordial. Also some fruit melons, strawberries are wheeled out daily and are straight from fridge but well past their best. Coffee machines plenty of choice but never found a nice one. Also bar prices quite steep and as no were elsewhere to go had to put up with it. Entertainment poor, no atmosphere acts came on, sang or whatever then left, no banter. Boring. Plus, dancefloor was full of elderly guests who obviously had lessons and dominated the floor. I suspect some were not guests but locals. It is a nice hotel but needs some attention, ditch the acts, change Aircon, proper orange juice tell the waiters to respect the paying guests. Incidentally the reception staff were very nice and helpful.
“Lovely hotel.....”
When I first arrived at Puerto palace I was pleasantly surprised, staff members were welcoming, beautiful decor throughout the hotel and a nice ambience. Our hotel room was very nicely presented with a gorgeous view from our room that overlooked the pool abd surrounding gardens. Bars and shops are close by and within walking distance. I would definitely come back to Puerto palace, look forward to my next stay.
“Great Hotel”
We stayed for a total of nine nights at the beginning of January. The hotel is in a good location, around a 15–20 minute walk into town. The walk back up to the hotel can take longer depending on your fitness level! Towards the end of the holiday, we did start getting a taxi back, which cost around €5–8. There is a free shuttle bus, but it doesn’t run in the evenings. We stayed on a B&B basis and thought the breakfast selection was great, with plenty to choose from. There were various continental options as well as cooked items such as bacon and eggs. However, breakfast could feel a little chaotic at times — the queues for the coffee machines were crazy, and the juice machines often ran out and weren’t refilled quickly enough. That said, the staff work incredibly hard and were clearly fighting a losing battle during busy periods. The rooms are basic but clean, with daily maid service. Once again, the staff were hardworking and always friendly. The beds were very comfortable, and we really enjoyed having a pool-view balcony. We had lunch a couple of times at the poolside bar, which offers a good range of dishes from pizzas to tapas. The food was good and the service excellent. They also offer a happy hour from 5:00–6:00 pm, with buy-one-get-one-free drinks. There’s a great choice of cocktails, and the ones we tried were delicious. Overall, I would certainly return to Puerto Palace, although I would probably avoid visiting during the summer months.
