Hotel itself is modern bright and spacious, with good sized bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable bar/cafe area. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Good value for money. Stayed en route to Santander ferry, about 2.5 hours drive. Would stay here again when making the trip again.

To be improved

Breakfast was not much more than adequate in terms of choice and selection on offer. The limited selection of breads, pastries and meats/cheeses were themselves quite good, just not a great choice. Dinner in the restaurant was only average too, not the best, but far from the worst. Basically, the food experience was just a bit underwhelming, but it would not put me off staying again.

El Montico is perfectly situated for our travel from the ferry to Portugal the rooms are comfortable & the staff friendly

The staff try very hard to make your stay welcoming but it’s let down by the lack of maintenance and the quality of the food

“Location and restaurant staff did their best · Cons: No fridge in room (as per mandatory item in 4 stars hotel in Spain), no elevator, a lot of flies in the restaurant and location (using vinager is not enought, you must use flies control devices all over the place).”
