“Configuration Not As Booked - Refused Cancellation Request”
I booked a family room cave with 3 beds (as I was travelling with my father). Despite the property being advised multiple times, the venue refused to allow a free cancellation even though they acknowledged the accommodation was unsuitable and they didn't have another option beside a double bed. A classic case of dollars over customer service. This affected the whole experience, while the caves are really quite a lovely idea, we saw how dated it was, no shower screen, and broken shower holder, the mosquitos and bugs everywhere including an aggressive spider absolutely determined to come inside (in Australia at least they scurry away), the long trek to get to venue having to reverse three times to accommodate tractors, and the heat (the caves aren't as cool as we expected). I expect the owners have put in a lot of work, it's just a shame they can't follow that up with some decency around their booking descriptions and cancellation policy :-(. If you're trying to make a decision, go somewhere that deserves your business more.
“Disappointing Experience – Misleading Booking, Cybersecurity Concerns, and Poor Facilities”
The caves were quite unique, property was clean and the food was really good.
I had high hopes for this stay, having booked a family cave room with three beds for myself and my father. What we got was not what was advertised. Despite clearly stating our requirements multiple times, the room only had a double bed, which they admitted, yet they still declined my cancellation request. This felt misleading and inconsiderate. Even worse, I received multiple aggressive messages demanding a booking deposit - messages the property later claimed were part of a cyberattack. As someone who values data security, this was extremely troubling that other clients hadn't been warned or advised. The room itself had issues: the shower head wouldn’t stay up, and the spa bath had no curtain—completely impractical for our needs. We also encountered an unusually aggressive spider, plus mosquitoes and midgies. The bees were the only pleasant visitors. Access to the property was another ordeal: a rough gravel road that left our car filthy and required reversing multiple times to let tractors pass. The caves were visually striking, but the overall experience was soured by a lack of customer care, and refusal to take responsibility for misleading advertising. I suspect that once the two caves were once joined and could be used as a family stay, but because they were fully booked, cash trumped the commitment made in the booking. Refusing free cancellation for a room that didn’t meet its description borders on fraudulent. I would not recommend this property to anyone seeking transparency, accessibility, or a secure booking experience.
“A different stay to our usual Parador stays, but, all in all, an enjoyable experience.”
The location was spectacular. Beautiful views. The welcome was very good by Raves ( I think I remember his name correctly, apologies if not). He even rang us to offer support before we left to travel to the hotel. Our room was excellent We had a lovely big balcony overlooking the River Tagus as well as a 4-poster bed and a beautiful bathroom. The evening meal was excellent. All told, we enjoyed our stay.
In order to reach the property we had to negotiate the most awful track, full of potholes. The jacuzzi bath was a sunken affair and was very difficult to get in and out of. Also, no desk and only 1 chair in the room. The approach road to the property is a challenge, several kms long and full of potholes. 10 km/hr is recommended!
“not worth the money”
I loved the views they are spectacular
the caves are very outdated. the owner has a dog on site which is not mentioned anywhere. as I have a phobia of dogs this should be mentioned as I picked this due to no animals allowed. very over priced for the caves. many cockroaches and flies in the rooms can hear everything the neighbour does they had loud music until 4am!!!! not relaxing at all very disappointed. the hotel also states English is spoken the roads to the hotel are very poor some strange animal is roaming the site at night the jacuzzi is only for one person
“Experience out of the ordinary”
Totally out of ordinary hotel night experience! Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Food was great for the tired travellers. The location, privacy and the views are unforgettable for anybody. Originally a remote luxury hunting lodge at high altitude turned into a very unique, green small resort.
We had a flat tyre on the way in and had to change into a spare. On arrival at the hotel the staff asked if they could take the damaged one to the village workshop (4 miles away) for repairs! And they did.
