“A poor three star hotel”
My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Salobrena Suites for 4 nights as part of a Titan Holidays package holiday. Overall: The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. However, the hotel and its grounds have a very tired and dated (in places shabby) appearance and the hotel struggles to merit even its three star rating. We assume that Titan Holidays use this hotel because it is inexpensive - certainly not suitable for a client group that is generally made up of retired people. Those planning use the hotel should be aware that the hotel is located on a site that is inaccessible (without a car) to beaches or nearby alternative places of interest - the nearest town (Salobrena) is not of great extended interest apart from a Castle and quaint narrow cobbled streets on the hillside below the Castle. When the Hotel is full or busy there is insufficient indoor seating especially when there is no sun or its is cold/wet outside. It is not great being stuck in a hotel bedroom for two with only one chair and when use of the outdoors garden and swimming pool is rendered impractical due to the weather. Whilst we were there guests reported that Wifi access on the lower level was unreliable and sometimes non existent. In our room there were faults on our arrival which included a broken ironing board, inoperable safe and a blocked bathroom washbasin. Although these were reported on our first morning they had not been attended to by the time of our departure three days later. Most disappointing of all was the Hotel's food. For all meals this was served via a Buffet arrangement The selection was uninspiring and at times totally unsatisfactory in terms of quality. Poor quality and range of cold foods and the presentation of "hot" foods was equally disappointing especially when all too frequently it was uninspiring and luke warm or tepid (certainly not hot). “WONDERFUL HOTEL & GREAT VIEWS”
HOTEL SALOBRENA SUITES What a great hotel this is! A lovely room with views to die for, a very large wall mounted TV, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, kettle and air conditioning. Plus a fridge that actually works which is a rare find! Very comfortable large beds and the hotel had a wonderful ambiance throughout. Clean, well set out and with tasteful furnishings. A peaceful hotel that is situated high amongst a very hilly landscape and fairly remote which is mentioned in the brochure. This is what appealed to us as we don't like large, noisy hotels in town. The Salobrena beach is a couple of miles away but buses run from a couple of hundred yards away from the end of the hotel driveway. We holidayed with Saga who supplied shuttle services into towns, and Mark our Rep was fun, informative and very helpful. I have no idea why there are so many negative comments about this hotel, many which seem to stem from the lack of reading the holiday brochure as the information is there for all to see. A great breakfast selection with both English and Spanish food on offer as this hotel caters for both. The lack of heat in the food seems to be an ongoing issue but this didn't mar our holiday one bit. The bar was well stocked and the Rose wine we found very palatable as was the red. It had a good sized pool though I only ventured in it once as it was mid November and although we had five good blue sky sunny days it was rather cold in there. Altogether a great holiday in a lovely hotel! Annie & John
“Hotel Salobrena Suites”
Unfortunately the hotel is very tired throughout which is a shame as the position is great. The rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. But the balcony needs attention you didn’t really want to sit out, therefore missing a lovely view! We used the restaurant which was buffet 18.50€ each, but sadly most of the food was cold and dried out, certainly not worth the money. Very little choice. The waiter really wanted to go home and was not very happy it was only 8.30pm. Apparently they cater more for Saga holidays, not particularly the food we are used to. This could be a great hotel with a makeover done.
“Heavenly Peace. Loved it.”
Heavenly Peace. IGNORE ANY BAD REVIEWS. Yes, it is a 3 star hotel but the rooms are super comfy and the best views you'll ever have. Plenty of food choices. Maybe not the best but there's something for everyone. Yes, parts of the hotel outside look a little tired but the views will make up for it. As our guide said you'd love it or hated. 46 of us loved it. You cannot go for walks outside but as we with Titan tours we were taken to points of interest. Great book exchange.
“Ok if you are happy to just stay on site.”
We went as part of a Titan tour Jewels of Spain. Good check in on arrival, however the location is poor at the top of a major hill with nothing worth seeing below as it is a 10 minute drive to the nearest town of Salobrena (not really worth a visit), the beach is just a distant view. This hotel is called "Salobrena suites." I can't see why as the majority of rooms are just a standard three star although it contains two large beds and a ceiling fan, just as well as I could not get the a/c to work at all. Bathroom is very good. Certainly not a suite to me. The hotel has a very good pool and adequate sunbeds, also a nice long thin terrace area. There a several lounge areas indoors which are great but the seats not to comfy. At the restaurant, this comprises both indoor and outdoor dining, however the areas are much too small with people hunting for a table and even at times queuing for one. The food was disappointing, although a good selection it was not always well cooked being over and under cooked, some of the food was basic and some lovely. Drinks are served in the restaurant although sometimes you get left out. What saves this hotel are the fantastic views from rooms and outdoor public areas. The people are good and do their best although hampered by virtually no English spoken. Getting served at the bar can be difficult as the staff (who do their best) access some of their work eg coffee out of sight and come back not knowing who to serve next.
“A stunning hotel with great views. I was pleasantly surprised by how it has improved whilst staying authentic.”
Beautiful location!
Staff in the main bar were a bit unhelpful.
