“Cons: We were put in a standard double room by the stairs, presumably in the annex next to the main building. The sound isolation was so bad we could hear people moving all night in the rooms upstairs, we could hear people on the stairs. We were woken up so many times in one night that we asked to change rooms. The reception first told us that the room type we booked was full and we would have to pay for an upgrade, then that the room upstairs was vacated. It took several complaints over several days for them to move us to a different room, after we were prepared to leave the hotel and find something else. The person that finally moved us was very sympathetic and the new room was great, but this took far too long, we had already spent half the vacation sleepless. A standard double does not mean poor quality rooms in a 4 star hotel.”
