Hotel Temple Ponferrada

It took them 48h to answer messages through booking asking for an extra night confirmation. It leaves us without the possibility of finding any other hotel room in the city. They didn't answer the phone calls (I made 8 in different times) Facilities were very old and poorly maintained. Windows don't allow a proper black out because they were broken. Broken tiles everywhere and frayed towels.. Beds too soft... The only 4* hotel in Spain that I visited that is worse than a 3* hotel in central Europe.... Take it as a clean 3 stars old hotel...

Also stayed in this hotel 7 years ago. Rooms getting a little dated and I। need of revamp.

It will require a facelift, building require some maintenance. Room had Air Conditioning but it was not working. The window open provided good fresh air but also lot of noise from street traffic.

The restaurant (dinner) is a joke for a 4star hotel. Food according to a restricted daily menu only, and of poor quality. Just getting a salad "impossible", no wine card: just one type red or white wine in a glass, or a couple of different bottles to choose from, very basic. I also told them on departure: "the restaurant is 2**". Under-staffed, one waiter running around and often no waiter present because busy next door (!), although they were friendly enough, but I had to wait long before being served; waiter apologised that one colleague was on holiday (middle of July, high season!). My first night, a Sunday, there was a local fiesta going in the park across the road, with loud music clearly audible and disturbing in my room, music that fortunately stopped at 00:15am.
