Hotel Torremar – Mares

The hotel is well located near many restaurants, the sea, and businesses. It's just noisy because it's in the middle of eating establishments. The facilities in the room are simple, with beds and air conditioning. I must say that it's very clean and the breakfast is very abundant and good. The reception staff was professional and friendly. I stayed there 4 nights

Great, centralised location, close to shops and 5 minute walk to the beach. Lots of restaurants to choose from. Hotel is a bit dated, air con not great, basics like an ironing board let it down too. One of the downsides to being in a town centre location is the noise. The fish market, next to the hotel, wakes you up at 5am. All in all, an average hotel.

Great price per night. We usually stay in Nerja and this was less than half the price. Right in the centre of town and close to the beach. All rooms have balconies. Very clean and comfortable bed. Air conditioning worked great. Reception ladies very nice and helpful. Big choice at breakfast. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. We were lucky to get free on street parking close by.

We had stayed at this central hotel a couple of years ago and enjoyed ourselves so much we went back. It isn't a fancy place but it is very comfortable indeed and has everything you could want in central location. They do have on site parking but there's lots of free parking down at the beach so we left our car there. It was only a two minute walk to get back to the hotel. Check in was fast and friendly and with good English and our bad Spanish! The room itself is very basic but had everything we needed and we slept particularly well. Fairly typically for a Spanish hotel they don't have kettles but you can request one from Reception and they will give you a tray with cups and so on. Breakfast is a buffet style of hot and cold food and is until 11 am which is great. We went for a walk along the beach 1st to work up an appetite and enjoyed it even more as a result.

I booked into Hotel Torremar as my sister was in the local hospital. We didn't know how long we would be in Spain so only booked 2 nights. The room was very clean and bright, and the shower was hot, and the bed very comfortable. We had a balcony, although the view was only the shops below. We had to book in for an extra night, we were unable to keep the same room, so we were moved to another room. The receptionists were extremely helpful and showed us how to get to the hospital. When we first booked in, it was approx 1.00am but the gentleman receptionist was very welcoming and made our check in very easy. If I were to visit Velez Malaga again, I would definitely return to Hotel Torremar.

A comfortable, clean hotel ideally situated in the centre of the holiday area of Torre del Mar. Lots of restaurants and bars literally on the doorstep. This is a Spanish resort so don’t expect the waiters to speak perfect English or expect an English roast or a full Monty breakfast offered. During the holiday season and at weekends expect noise, especially in the street facing rooms.
