“Great location for the Basque experience but not for overnights / passing through”

Located in a town with shops and cafes nearby, the place has its own bar / cafe, so no walk needed :) Definitely a Basque town and its local language :) Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, tolerant of bad Spanish but could talk in English easily The valley area it is located in is very scenic, would invite exploration Although life goes on in the street and buses and traffic goes by, my room was very quiet and peaceful

Booking.com is at fault for mis-representing the parking situation. the details note that there is private parking on site (see below) but does not tell you there is a fee of 15 euros to pay. The issue I have tried to address before is that many travellers have expensive goods on board and do no want street parking or, the free alternative in this case, a communal car park 300m away. My issue with Booking.com is that a request for free private parking, on site doesn't always work. The hotel makes it clear but when you ask for this up front and this is what the company tells you while you are booking (I didn't have time to read the small print while booking) it ends up a mess and reflects badly on the hotel. The private parking at this hotel involves an extremely awkward descent in semi light to a walled parking place. I have a medium sized car and am used to basement parking where at my apartment block but this is not for the faint hearted and will set you back 15 euros too. You would have to be a confident driver to use it.

“Te staff is friendly · Cons: The room had no window to open and smelled really bad. We stayed in winter and the room was cold. Only a synthetic blanket to sleep under which didn’t keep me warm at night. The village is not worth staying, looks very miserabel.”
