“Quiet and authentic stay”

The best

Location is amazing for those who appreciate quiet, non-touristy rural spots. Beautiful beach within walking distance. Nice restaurant right next door.

To be improved

The bed is small and short for a double, the room is good enough.

“The hotel was extremely comfortable, the dinner was delicious, we liked everything. · Cons: We're not fans of the village, but it's a super authentic place that smells of cows, horses, and other livestock. For me, these smells didn't create the atmosphere :( the smell of cattle is everywhere”

“No communication on checkin. Room is not clean and has bug”

To be improved

I reserved and got confirmed of the reservation. I arrived around 9pm which is still within the regular checkin time of 3pm-12am. However, there is no one at the hotel to meet and check me in. There also isn’t any communication or email about instructions for me to checkin. It was confusing. I’m not from Spain do not have cell phone service. Hence, I reluctantly must call the hotel that then excused that I came late. At that point, he then instructed me how to get into the hotel and room and no one came greeted to help me. In term of cleanliness and accommodation: the room is dimly lit and has strong smell of bug spray. I later found a small cockroach roaming in the bathroom. The room’s heaters are not working and it was cold as it’s in December of the year. I found the extra blanket which doesn’t look clean and have some hairs on it. Overall, it’s a disappointing experience, given the many high praise reviews of the place.

“Good for my 5 day stay. An normal hotel. Dogs not allowed on beach during summer but lovely cliff walks instead.”

Independent access to my room which was great as I had dogs with me. Staff were lovely.

To be improved

Restaurant only open for breakfast. Hotel name difficult to see when driving past particularly as the garden was unkempt. Reception closed on arrival and I had to phone the owner. He booked me in but did not tell me that breakfast was included in the price.

“A beautifully restored old stone building (ex-monastery?), very comfortable with superb spa baths in rooms. Very peaceful location near fabulous surfing beach. No restaurant on site but one ten minutes walk away overlooking the beach. · Cons: Breakfast could have been a better experience - more variety would have improved it.”
