“great!”
Amazing animation team lots of activities food was great although my boyfriend wasn’t keen on breakfast as was colder than uk cooked breakfast. but i loved the food good selection my mum loves rice pudding. snacks free for all inclusive guests. beachfront location although some rocks in places but i didn’t mind. lots of walking as big complex evening entertainment was good acrobatic act one night. kids pools up the top. great stay!
no air con in apartments only fan i didn’t mind but you can tell a refurb is due to modernise the apartments
“Quiet secluded resort, beautiful views, amazing sunsets”
We had a lovely 4 night stay, TUI transfer from airport was smooth, dropped to port and boat over, bus picked us up and dropped at resort. Room wasn’t ready till 3 reception very friendly, we went off for lunch and was ready after. Rooms clean but need updating, fan worked but noisy. The restaurant staff were lovely and for a 3 star the food was really good, lots of freshly cooked food whilst you wait, paella fish fresh breads and salads and fruit . The restaurant does get busy but never had to wait for table. The top pool and splash pool are modern the pool over looking the beach needs some TLC but the views are amazing. Lots of sunbeds available. The sunset is amazing can watch for the beach, snackbar and restaurant. The resort is big and uphill so you need to be relatively fit. We watched a show one evening and it was a great. We had a lovely stay and for us we loved the beach with the crystal clear water, the views the sunset.
“Would definitely return”
Staff were amazing, food as expected in all inclusive, Lots of activities if you are willing to participate. Stunning scenery, crystal clear waters. Yes, the bungalows are a bit outdated but we only used them to sleep and shower, it was clean with fresh linen and towels. A bit of a walk to the restaurant and bar so not recommended for people who don’t enjoy a hilly walk but I certainly came back fitter than before so very happy about that! Would definitely return. 5 stars to all staff that worked really hard 🤩
“Worth the Money.”
Excellent Facilities, Pool, Restaurant, Bar, and entertainment and Vista. On the downside the WiFi was very weak and the accommodation was very Dated and small.
“Wonderful location, terrible hotel.”
Firstly Formentera is a stunning destination. This hotel however does not do its beatiful grounds / surroundings justice. We arrived at the planned time of around 1pm but we're unable to check in / access the room until after 3pm as per hotel policy. We have never experienced that previously. Multiple leg transfers went well albeit with no TUI rep being present at any of the 3 return legs. No late check out available meaning 6+ hours without a room on the last day. In total we had 9 hours of being 'homeless' during the stay. Rooms: The accommodation at Insotel Club Maryland is 2* quality. As many others have stated the decor and furniture are from the 1980's, shockingly dated, badly maintained, poor quality furniture with rock hard beds. Literally everything needs updating accommodation wise. The bungalows are in 2 storey blocks so are not bungalows in the accepted sense. Maisonette blocks would be a better description. No air conditioning, no WiFi, no safe, no kettle / iron, no remotely watchable TV etc. That low level of basic amenities is 2* level max. The ground floor terraces are small with old, cheap plastic patio furniture sets. The sliding patio doors are easily opened from the outside even when 'locked'. The ceiling fans kind of worked in mid / late September but I dread to think how hot and humid the rooms would be during July & August. The shower had hardly any pressure. The water temperature pleased itself by continually varying from hot to cold mid use. We initially had room 260. Upon arrival there was a strong dirty / musky smell throughout the accommodation. Over the next few hours a puddle began to form from underneath the bathroom floor and run into the hallway / kitchen area. It smelt like waste water. The hotel staff quickly arranged for a maintenance person to attend. He wrongly diagnosed the issue, was rude / hostile when challenged. The water was cleaned up by a maid. Within an hour it was back, witnessed by a member of the reception team. Offeted alternative accommodation but it was even worse. We were eventually moved to another bungalow the next day after intervention from TUI head office (the on site TUI rep Justyna is a waste of space). The hotel reception staff were beyond useless. The maids and restaurant / bar staff however were great. Rooms 'cleaned' daily with 'fresh' towels. Food: The standard of the buffet food in the main restaurant is poor, bland and repetitive. We didn't eat anything hotter than just lukewarm for 10 days other than when we dined elsewhere locally or in San Francesc. Evening meals served from 7.30pm which we found to be a bit late. Tea, coffee etc are only available at breakfast in the main restaurant. The hike to the restaurant / pool / beach area is especially brutal during the afternoon sun. Many struggled. If you have the slightest mobility issues or are not reasonably fit then my strong advice is to book elsewhere on the island. Also noted by many others is that British visitors are a minority which is usually a plus. The vast majority of guests are Spanish and German. Like others, we also found the majority of other guests to be rude, loud, disrespectful and selfish. The amount of crying / screaming kids into the early hours was disturbing. I can kind of see the appeal of this hotel for young family's on a budget but honestly I could not in good faith recommended it to anybody outside of that demographic. The hotel layout, facilities, rooms and food are that bad. The on site shop was not restocked during our 10 days and ran out of bottled water amongst other basics. The hotel should close for a year in order to upgrade its facilities to 21st century standards and to train new management / reception staff. We can highly recommend the island catermaran trip if only to get out of the hotel for the day. S'Espalmador in particular is stunning. San Francesc and Es Pujol are well worth visits too and are only short local bus rides away on L2. We also enjoyed the ambience and food at Gitana Chiringuito which is 5 minutes walk up the boardwalk from the hotel.
“Relaxed in lovely surroundings, read a lot of books and came back with a healthy tan!”
Lovely island, and the bungalows are in a lovely location in a Pine Forest. There is a fairly long walk down a relatively steep path to the restaurant, pool, bar, and beach but it is worth the walk. A smaller pool and splash zone is available at the top end of the site. The surroundings are amazing, and the sunsets are to die for. Food good, with a choice of eating inside or outside. The pools are beautifully kept, very clean, with ample sunbeds and ample space around them.. plenty of shade or sun, depending on your choice. Some sun beds were reserved with towels but it was completely unnecessary as there are ample for everyone, and spare. The beach is partially rocky but the sand is white and powdery and I have not seen sea as clear as this outside the Caribbean.. gorgeous. There are some recommendations I would make .. the only access into and out of the main pool is by the short ladders which are quite difficult for some people to use. Steps into the pool in the shallow end would be very easy to install. As far as the bungalows are concerned, they are clean and functional if not luxurious. Our bathroom was clean and roomy but suffered from a leaky shower and loo which made the floor constantly wet. I would strongly recommend taking out the bath and putting in a proper shower.. the bath was narrow which made it feel a bit unsafe. There is a "kitchen" with a microwave and a fridge but these depended on one plug so you could not plug both in at the same time. A kettle would be a very distinct improvement over the microwave! The entertainment team worked hard but while the evening entertainment used to be close to the sea, pool, and restaurant when we went last, now it has been relocated to a purpose built theatre at the top end of the site. This was evidently too far for most people to walk too at the end of the day as it was very poorly attended and it didn't help that the adult entertainment didn't start until 10pm. I felt sorry for the entertainers on stage ... when they used the small stage by the pool, they had a far larger and more enthusiastic audience. Kitos was as good this year as he was three years ago!
