“The location was great in the heart of the old town. The room was clean and had great AC · Cons: The “bathroom” wasn’t a room, but rather just a toilet and shower in the corner of the bedroom, with minimal privacy.”

“Cute apartment at the top of Old Town Peniscola.”
The apartment was cute, high on the 'hilltop' part of the town. The streets are beautiful cobblestones, and winding streets (no cars allowed), and packed with bars and restaurants, and shops everywhere. The place was small and nicely decorated. We had to climb up 2 flights of stairs to get to it, no elevator and no washing machine. Once inside, it had a very bohemian feel and it was clean. We had a tiny balcony view, but it was a small street and directly across from us were what looked like abandoned apartments. We had a tiny little kitchen, but not enough to cook meals. There was an old couch, covered by a cover and a small cocktail table but not a table and chairs to eat from. The bed was comfortable, but it was one long pillow, not 2 separate ones, and not any extra pillows to spare. Overall, it was nice, but there were some issues to location and getting to the apartment.
We had difficulty finding parking because this is a beach town and the town was packed with tourists. We found a parking lot, which was only about 4 euro to park overnight, but it was quite a distance to walk with our bags to the apartment. The apartment is in the 'old town' part of Peniscola. We had an uphill battle with our luggage. It was steep and lots of steps to reach our apartment. We had no idea it would be this difficult. We had to pick up our keys from a hotel located on the beach and then make our way to the hilltop. Yes, the apartment is cute and bohemian, but be prepared to have no privacy. The bed faces the bathroom, which is complete open concept. The toilet and shower offer no privacy and it's a small apartment so unless you are sharing this with someone you are VERY COMFORTABLE with, it would be awkward. I don't want to be down on the place, but we had no idea what we were actually dealing with and it's only fair to make sure that you know the full details before you book.

“Loved Peniscola!”
Location in the old town is perfect and we had the top floor room which had access to two terraces that no one else could use. The views are incredible. Perfectly situated a few streets away from the main bars so it was quiet. It seems most places don’t open until 9pm in old town but the buzz is super lively! The flat keys also get you access to the Muva Beach Club and restaurant which is an extra bonus. The flat itself is spacious and has a mini kitchenette so you can cook yourselves. Aircon was fab too. Loved our stay!
The stairs…. I underestimated other reviews but carrying suitcases up 4 flights of stairs after pulling them for 5 minutes up the old town streets/steps was a workout and a half! And we’re fit 30yr olds! The stairs are very steep, very narrow and spirally. If you’re staying here for a week with a huge suitcase then be prepared for this, but don’t let it put you off because the top floor is amazing. This probably goes for any place in the old town though… you can’t drive into it so be prepared to walk 5-10 minutes through rocky cobbled streets and lots of steps to reach anywhere. It’s the most beautiful town though so definitely worth it. There’s no door to the bathroom in the top floor flat. We didn’t mind but others might. Could also do with a map to find it as Google maps takes you one street down.
“It was amazing staying in the walls of the castle - we felt very lucky.”
Super location. Very cool apartment. It was a bit odd that the bathroom was open plan - but we were ok with that.
There was no kettle so we couldn't make a cup of tea. (there is a coffee machine though). Would be great if there was a corkscrew :)
