You definitely need a car to get around but we had one so it was fine.

Due to a weather storm my children were delayed for 14 hours, which meant we would arrive about 2-3 hours later to the property than initially communicated. This because we had people flying in from 3 different airports and would travel together from Tenerife to the house in a rental car. We informed her about 1 hour before original arrival time but the host said she was already there waiting and made us drive from the airport to the house (1.5 hours not 45 minutes as in description) to pick up the key, then drive back 1.5 hours to pick up 2 children, and then 1.5 hours back to the house so I drove 4.5 hours in total for the keys! She lives 30 minutes away, when we arrived she was not even there so lying she was waiting before, and clearly had 0 flexibility for her guests. She said it was our problem we were delayed and I should have told her. I told her about the delay before the original time of arrival and I was waiting for any official time of arrival as the airline kept delaying. I can´t help it when the airport gets closed due to a weather storm and my children were waiting for 14 hours from 02;00 AM until 16:00 PM to depart. We would have arrived only 2 hours later than initially agreed and it was during normal daylight time not even in the middle of the night. Next time, don´t rent out a house if you cant even put a key box on the wall for easy key pick up. If you are renting illegal without license maybe that is your issue. No need to explain how the house works if it is only showing where the cutlery is and how towels work. Maybe she should have told us how to turn on the heating as that did not work and tank was empty. Much more essential.
