LA ALCAZABA - Exclusive Penthouse

Noisy during the night.

It is above some popular bars, so expect some noise, but this only bothered me on my final night. There is a €50 charge if you don’t remove your own rubbish, which is a bit much, considering there were no clean towels or fresh bedding for the week I stayed. On floor 0, the lift button broke, meaning I had to walk up to floor 1 to catch the lift. This is not the apartments fault, but be aware the apartment is on floor 4. Outdoor furniture was a bit grubby with bird droppings.

Two Towels for two people for five days - one was threadbare and damaged. No oven facility No views from property - over looked from apartments across street. Noisy nights from properties across street as well as bars underneath and other guests in block Sunscreen over dining chairs and table outside is ripped and quite tatty. Complimentary tea/coffee etc would be have been good Bought our own pegs as there was only 10 or so at the property - would have been a bonus if we’d have been left washing powder/tablets etc.

If you are looking for a holiday without anxiety and stress, this is probably not for you. After making the booking, I was contacted to say the money hadn’t been sent; I replied saying it HAD been sent. I then received a response to say that a mistake had been made and apologised. Then I received a further email to say NO, the payment HADN’T been sent and I would need to send it again. I resent the payment. Then they contacted me to say THEY had got it wrong, the money HAD been paid and would send a refund. In theory, you get a free taxi from the airport. A recurring email (out of 19) was one telling me to log in and provide details for the taxi driver. This I did at least twice until I finally received an email saying my ‘journey had been cancelled’. So taxi cancelled – I assumed there might have been a shortage at Málaga airport. However when I arrived there, taxis were lined up as far as the eye could see. The reception, for key pick up, is not located near to the flat itself but a kilometre walk away at least. A fair trek with a suitcase and a bag in the midday Andalucían sun when you don’t know the place. The person in reception handed me ONE key – I immediately questioned that, but he said it was the same key for the flat AND building. I asked him to call a taxi for me, then we went outside. Some five minutes later he came outside and said he had made a mistake with the key but his colleague would be arriving in 10 minutes with the right keys (plural). About 20 minutes later the colleague duly arrived, at which point the receptionist said he couldn’t get me a taxi – there were none available. We then walked round the corner to where we had previously noticed a taxi rank, and there was a line of three or four taxis waiting. This is what happens when you have a decent product (the flat) and think all you have to do is sit back and let the money roll in. But if you allow a whole chain of incompetents (admin) to run that business for you, they can destroy it.
