La Becada de Buelna

I was expecting a hotel, but what we got was a room in a house. There are none of the usual facilities one expects in a hotel - no bar, no restaurant, no staff. Nada. Once you’re in your room, that’s it for the night! That was sort of okay for us, we just needed a bed for the night on the way to the ferry port, but another time we’ll look for a hostal: having a drink and a racion surrounded by blokes in hi-viz jackets is more fun!

We made a reservation for 3 adults, they assigned us a room for 2 (with an extra bed); they only checked-in 2 people - I’m sure this is not the right process, every guests must be registered. We stayed for 3 nights. I mentioned immediately the wifi didn’t work, and it got sorted out only during our last day, after I told them they probably had to purchase an extension plug for the room. I had to ask for toilet paper, otherwise we were gonna stay with 1 roll for 3 people for 3 nights! There’s written they change the towels every 2 days. They never changed us the towel. There were broken things, such as the soap machine in the shower and the towel hanger. The address of the property is a restaurant, also the advertising on Booking has the name and address of the restaurant. The name of the property is La Posada de Buelna. So you arrive at a restaurant, then you go to the property, which is not far away, but it is a wrong adv and a wrong information, and a waste of time for travellers. Customer service and client experience for sure are not the owner’s main skills; the way he expresses himself is quite unpleasant. I felt he even noticed that and tried to rectified in the next conversations, but didn’t succeed in his intent. We felt very uncomfortable. We made a complaint and thanks to Booking we managed to obtain a refund.

Could be better signposted. We took the turn beside it and ended up in a ditch on a narrow road.

The bed sheets were not really clean as I found a bug on the bed and they looked old and stained. The bed was not really comfortable (at least in the room I was given).

Hotel locked upon arrival even though we had advised our arrival time as requested. Phoned the contact number but the person (owner?) had no English and hung up. Luckily a lady in the village, with perfect English, explained that you had to go to the owners restaurant , at the other end of the village to make contact. The owner then brought us back to the hotel to check in.
