La casa del navegante

We had a great 2 night stay in May. The weather allowed us to open the windows for fresh air. At night, we closed them to close the hurricane shutters (pull mechanisms on sides of windows for those unfamiliar with them) to have the effect of blackout curtains and sense of comfort since apartment was on ground floor adjacent to pool on one side. Ocean views out the back were amazing and definitely a highlight. Loved being able to walk along the bustling beach promenade with plenty of good seafood restaurants, using recommendations from the host, who was gracious, accommodating and very helpful, communicating through the messaging system and WhatsApp before meeting us at the property. She also confirmed the address since the Booking site had 2 different addresses. Also the site did not indicate check in time (it was blank) until after reserving to learn it was 3-6pm. Maybe just a glitch in the system. Certainly not host’s fault and she was wonderful, especially given our last minute booking and arriving later. Apartment was well-stocked with linens, towels and kitchen items. We wished we were staying longer. The rooms were also ample sized and all was extremely clean. Covered garage parking was a plus, although tight turns so fits small to medium-sized cars.

The location was perfect and very near the centre. The apartment was vey large and spacious. The hosts met us on arrival and explained everything to us in detail. The underground parking is easy to access and very secure. The views over the ocean were stunning to say the least. Shops, cafes, supermarkets and bakery's are a few minutes walk away. The complex is extremely quite day and night. There are very long walks near the apartment with breathtaking views over the ocean and the pier at Castro Urdiales. The kitchen is well stocked as is the two bathrooms. The hosts kept in contact with us and advised on places to see/tourist information/shopping/restaurants/and other interesting information. It is gas centrally heated and has WiFi. The hosts were welcoming to out little dog. This is a lovely place to stay with exceptional hosts.

The view! Also very quiet, apart from the surf. Could watch that for ages.
