“An Authentic Convenient Accommodation In Lovely Frigiliana”
La Casita Azul is a unique and authentic way to experience this beautiful “hill town” above Nerja and the Mediterranean Sea. Be prepared to live life like the locals! For some of us, that is what travel is all about and makes it so rewarding. The apartment has all of life’s true needs, from kitchen to sitting area, a ground floor bedroom with comfortable bed and plenty of warm blankets available to keep you warm in January, and a small upstairs bath that leads to a rooftop patio with mountain views as well as the church’s bell tower. For travelers, the washing machine is great with a drying rack on the rooftop patio. We never met our host, but she provided all the information we needed as well as a host of various snacks and beverages (bottle of wine and beers in the fridge!). We didn’t have to drive the car at all during our two night stay, though if you don’t spend a night or two in Nerja, it’s only 10 kms (less than 15 minute drive) down the hill. For us it was memorable - and if it’s not truly memorable, just stay home.
If we were expecting 3 or 4 star hotel comfort, we might have something to say about what we didn’t like. Despite some minor inconveniences - like not being able to drive anywhere close to the apartment, having a 10 minute walk if you take the shortest route up 100 stairs BUT having free parking (in the off-season, at least), taking some time to warm up the living area during the cooler winter season, and having to go upstairs to use the bath at night - we wouldn’t change a thing. Because that is life in Frigiliana.
“Quaint but tiny apartment to stay in the lovely town of Frigiliana for fit, able people.”
Quaint apartment in historic Frigiliana
Apartment far too small to be comfortable, especially the sleeping and bathroom facilities up steep steps from the bedroom. Hardly any storage facilities for clothes and bathroom toiletries. It was very stressful trying to find the apartment as the instructions were vague at the best and Frigiliana is a very confusing town on so many levels. We ended up just taking our essentials, leaving much in our car parked up a long way away for the night, as the walk up the stairs was exhausting. Later we found a shorter climb up to the apartment but clear instructions are definitely needed.
“Authentic casa”
My sister and I loved everything here. A beautiful little house, super cute and authentic. Great location in the old town. Loved the kitchen especially. Every detail has been considered.
“Frigiliana is beautiful and well worth the visit in this typical Spanish comfortable old town apartment .”
Cosy typical of the area . Very pretty apartment and comfortable
There was water for use but this was a bottle already open in the fridge . There were odd bits of provisions which were all open and I assume left by people who previously stayed . The toaster was not clean and had bits of bread stuck in it . Think it would benefit from cleaning all the provisions out and just leaving a small water and or maybe a coffee/tea sachet for the first day . If not , nothing is better than half used items . Not hygienic
