La Perla de Doña Julia

It was the longest and most difficult check in I have ever had. Isabel, who is really kind, does not speak English and when you don't speak Spanish, it's getting difficult even with translator. I sugest the owner to prepare some guidance in English sent via booking... and that's the reason why I put 7 not 10. The pilot to garage was not working. There was an ironing board but without iron. Soap in bathroom or paper towel are standards, missing in this apartment.

Only one key between two couples was difficult and was always worrying if we lost that key

Home owner took 300 euro as collateral

Could have done with a second set of keys. Housekeeper is lovely but doesn't speak English but I used Google Translater to communicate. 300euro cash deposit is understandable and we got it returned no problem at check out. Had to drive to a location 20 minutes from the apartment to collect the keys which wasn't ideal but we did land late and after the check in time, thankfully we had a car and sat nav got us there ok. I would have liked to have had the offer of being met at the property for a small additional fee.

The communication with the owner and cleaner was simply chaotic. We turned up at the property at a prearranged earlier time. We understood that the apartment would be being cleaned at that time, but that we could sit by the pool until the cleaning was complete. We had no instructions on whether we would be met or how we would access the gated property. Standing outside the gate we rang the cleaner but she could not speak English. We asked a passerby to translate and were told that the apartment was not ready. We were not given access to the property. Only after we had left the property did the owner make contact via text, we were told to come back later. Once we were met by the cleaner we were then asked for 300 euros as a deposit. (Admittedly this was in the small print of the booking, but no one had mentioned it at any point during the booking process and earlier contact with the owner.) It was a complete surprise! (...If I had known earlier, I would not have booked). Then, as if, to add insult to injury, I was then asked to go to a cash point and withdraw the money in cash. This I reluctantly did, and the money was returned on check out the next day. This is the first time, after using Booking.com for 10 years or so, that I have been asked for a cash deposit.
