“Silence is Golden”
The best

Although only a few kilometres from the busy town of Sant Celoni (a hub for visiting the Montseny area) the Amagatall is in a secluded forested area and the nights are wonderfully silent and full of stars. The area is a hill walker's paradise but we had performance commitments and didn't get to explore the area. But we plan to go back and do so. Due to our commitments in the area we had some special requests, but the friendly young staff were quite happy to be flexible and granted our requests. The house has an old world charm. It was obviously part of a large household back in the days of masters and servants. Our bedroom was large, comfortable and with a shower and toilet area en suite. The beds were fine and we slept well.

To be improved

The negative aspect was beyond the owners' control. To get to the house you have to drive up a steep(ish) dirt road. Normally, this is a smooth experience, but in the days before we arrived there had been unusually heavy rain and that had caused deep channels to appear in the dirt road. The staff apologised but said they would be arranging for the path to be repaired as soon as possible. Hopefully by the time you visit the site the channels will be no more.

“Rural, quirky, friendly and great value.”
The best

Great location - just off the motorway. The property is an old Spanish house, set in lovely woodland grounds with a private pool. We were made very welcome throughout our stay. Our room was a good size with a great shower. Toasty warm with a comfy bed. We were very tired after our journey so snuggled up in front of the log fire in the lounge area - very appreciated. If you want a change from chain style motels - and like rural quirky, you should love this.
