AVOID AT ALL COST! Host will blackmail you with a deposit of 50€ in order to let you know where you can collect your keys from even if you make a prepaid and non-cancellable reservation that Booking charges you. There are cameras in the apartment (which is mentioned in Booking.com) however, the one that’s in the hall, will point directly to the main bathroom, so no privacy whatsoever - only good point that they have a lid you can slid up to close the camera. However, the WORST PART OF IT ALL was THE LACK OF ANY CLEANLINESS!! We staid for 2 nights and by the time we went to the apartment - which was past midnight - we found DEAD BUGS inside the BEDSHEETS, DEAD INSECTS in the SHOWER, DUST and DIRT EVERYWHERE - dirty floorings, dirt inside the bathtub, dirty clothes inside the washing machine and some others hung drying for our whole stay, a dirty glass on the sink rack, toaster full of breadcrumbs, wet paper inside the bidet!! 😵💫 wasn’t that enough, one of the TOWELS had POO on it! And only a quarter of a toilet roll was left in the whole 2-bedroom and 2-bathroom apartment for 4 adults!! Having had all of this sorted with a simple “I’m sorry, I’ll send some to restock the toilet paper and to clean up the apartment tomorrow morning”, we found ourselves with a rather most unpleasant reply from the host, stating that “who on their right mind would text someone after midnight and not right after they check-in (not even asking what time we went into the apartment and not taking into consideration that when we texted her, we sent everything in one whole message). She told us to go buy the toilet paper ourselves and on top of everything, according to her, “the apartment was clean, so maybe it was our own standards the problem”. Even after sending her the pictures she kept saying it was all our perception!!???(shame I do not have a option given by booking.com to upload the pictures to show you the status of the apartment).
After everything, she said we could leave the apartment after our first night but did not even respond when I asked her for a refund of the second night before agreeing to leave in advance as it was a non-cancellable booking. Having worked in hotels for over 10 years myself, not only in Spain, but in London as well, I have never encountered, nor experienced, such a terrible situation and so little customer service and human kindness. In case you wonder, no, she DID NOT return the 50€ deposit even though they were blackmailed and asked illegally as nowhere in Booking.com was it stated they were required and when asked why, she only said that she wasn’t returning them because there were a couple of bloodstains on the bedsheets (that were coming from my arm and were the result of bug bitings on my arm from my stay!) and she will not only have to replace the “new bedsheets” (NEW!!????? FULL OF DEAD BUGS!!!????), but she will also have to replace the matter cover and possibly the mattress itself!!!???? It has to be mentioned that Booking.com has returned to me the 50€ deposit illegally asked from the host, but it has been a hell amount of time wasted having to call and chase them, so if you are visiting Bilbao, we fully recommend you to look for any other establishment as you might spend a better night camping on the beach that sleeping in such conditions and having to deal what such a ‘person’.
