Luxe Apartment in Chamberí Chic

Our stay at this property in Madrid was a nightmare, marked by a serious safety violation and substandard conditions. On our departure date at 9 am, two hours before checkout, a maintenance worker entered our apartment without knocking, ringing, or obtaining permission, while my wife and child were dressing. This unauthorized entry was traumatic, causing significant emotional distress and forcing us to leave early for safety reasons. We called the police and the host’s excuse that the worker “didn’t know” we were there was unacceptable, especially since individual access codes are said to be provided to each guest. Beyond this inexcusable safety breach, the property itself was disappointing. I reported to the host that the TV didn’t work because it couldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi, leaving us unable to use it. It was difficult to enter the apartment; the system they use was complicated to use. The linens appeared unwashed, with a noticeable lipstick stain on one pillow, raising serious hygiene concerns. There was a sewer stench in the bathrooms which they try to mask with a machine that periodically sprays a scent. Only the ac remote in the bedroom works. You can hear the metro, so it's hard to sleep. These issues alone would have been frustrating, but combined with the unauthorized entry, they made the stay intolerable.

No hand soap in bathrooms. Slightly bare (more artwork on walls would be good, although I'm being very picky I realise.)

Not a very pleasant experience! It was not clear from the start that the apartment is in the basement, and it wasn't mentioned in the listing. The place was not clean for a stay with two kids. Tried calling the host multiple times for help and asking the Wi-Fi password, but they never answered.

Is fresh style but many broken things. Is comfy for 5 people but not 6. The kitchen is missing many things: cutlery is incomplete, no coffee cups, not enough plates, etc
