“Beautiful villa, terrible customer experience”
The location of this villa is fantastic, the place was incredibly clean and very comfortable. The views spectacular. Just 10 mins walk along the coastline to the marina and tonnes of great restaurants. Very spacious and well stocked kitchen. Great showers.
I had called Solmar Villas twice before setting off and checked both times that a cot would be available for our son. I was told it would be. It wasn’t there and we were told it would be a couple of hours before it arrived. This was really disappointing when travelling with 2 children until 2.5 and a long trip. The worst aspect of the stay was that we paid £177 for a week of heating (our stay was April to early May and the May days were not listed as heated). The pool had several issues throughout our stay including totally draining due to a pump malfunction and the pump not heating the pool to a temperature where our toddler could swim. It was regularly 24C and our son was blue with cold in it. We made several calls to the customer service team to rectify (10 calls in 9 days total across our stay). The team generally were efficient and helpful but given the amount of money we paid to stay in this villa and the extra we paid for having the pool heated, we found this exceptionally poor. Of the 9 days we were there, only half of the days was the pool useable by our son, despite the extra payment. Towards the end of the holiday, the poor quality kettle broke and fused the whole place, again very stressful when travelling with young ones who are only on formula. I have put in a formal complaint to Solmar who have offered us £100 refund (despite an £177 charge for the heated pool). I find this completely unacceptable and it’s really left a sour note for us despite the place being great in so many ways. I would also note if travelling with little ones - there is no bath. Final thing to add, i found the description that there is AC a little deceptive as this is in the bedrooms only and not in the main areas which was fine for us as it was mid 20s but I would imagine a little stuffy in the height of summer. We do not leave negative reviews on the whole and this is the first one we’ve left for an accommodation, that’s how disappointed we have been with the experience.
