“Lovely house, very noisy dogs”

Isabel, our host, was very friendly and her daughter chatted to us in her excellent English. The room was very well fitted out and had a balcony. We were given a cold drink on arrival, which was welcome, as we were cycling. The house is 2.5km from the town, but there was an option for evening meal in the house, which we took. Food quality very good, much of it home-made.

To be improved

The peaceful surroundings and relaxing on the balcony were ruined by the loud barking of two large dogs, one in a room close to ours. The barking was not continuous but it was frequent. Last bark at 00.02 - I checked - when all the guests were finally in bed. We paid €191 for dinner, bed and breakfast, nearly twice the cost of Hotel Fonda la Plaza in the town where we stayed previously. The evening meal at €25 did not include wine.

No signage to property, situation down dirt track which after rain was a quagmire, very difficult to find. Appalling reception, rang bell several times no one answered, girl appeared with cat from the garden and went through door marked private and locked it behind her. Finally someone came from the door marked private after we banged on it and immediately took payment for room etc. when asked about dinner that evening ( we had sent an email request for dinner for 2 as they state there is a restaurant on site at the time of booking a couple of days before) we were told it was not possible so had to negotiate the appalling muddy track again to go into the town to find supper that evening.
