Medplaya Hotel Rio Park

We booked for a 4 night break full board .I had read the bad reviews and thought it cant be that bad .I am not a fussy eater but their was little choice of food , poor quality and some of it was uncooked .I met a few people in the hotel who had been sick either from food poisioning or a stomach bug ,so decided to eat out after that . The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable . The pool closed at 5pm and you are unable to sit up on a sunlounger as no adjustable back. Disappointed and wont be back .

We’ve just completed five days at this superb hotel. Not quite sure about these other reviews didn’t experience any of these problems that they have occurred.Food staff hotel was amazing. One problem I did find is the arrogant English people and I am English myself that are there I think they need to realise that they haven’t paid 15 K and I’m not in Dubai 😂😂😂 Also regarding the food if they didn’t put so much on their plate and so many different varieties of food, maybe they wouldn’t get stomach problems. I can’t comment about every room because obviously we only stayed in the one room outstanding very clean tidy new towels as and when we needed them and room cleaned every day. I highly recommend that you try this hotel If I have one tiny small complaint, it would be TV a bit on the small side. BUT we didn’t go to Benidorm to watch TV. 😂😂 Well done to all involved in making it a lovely trip Thank you

A little disappointed with this hotel. Rooms probably just need a little touching up. Ours had no kettle and cups were dirty on arrival. No problem for us but cleaners never noticed all week. We also found a comb under our tea tray that obviously hadn’t been moved to be cleaned. Food - the breakfast is nice, full English if you want it. Evening meals a bit hit and miss for us, Was always something to eat but very mix and match. Kebab night was excellent. Pool - pool area nice, lots of space and lots of seating too. Entertainment was poor on an Evening, very slow and some of the acts were not good. Day time you were asked to take part but staff weren’t pushy if you didn’t want to. Staff Very friendly. Drinks price were ok €4.20 for strongbow and Guinness which went up in an evening to €4.75. €3.00 for san Miguel. The sports bar is nice on an evening for a late chill. Location is 5 mins down to main strip. We were floor one which was great as lifts were shocking, only problem was cleaners arrived from 8.30 onwards and were noisy outside rooms if you like a lie in. Overall I would maybe stay here again bed and breakfast. Location is good, far enough away from hustle and bustle of strip.

A little out 10min walk to beach but peaceful area. Great atmosphere with good entertainment. Rooms clean and comfortable. Great value. Hotel is always very clean.

The food was awful so basic, cold and tasteless, the lifts were terrible waited around 10 mins for a lift at one point, the shower would never stay the same temp, would either freeze you or scold you, the pool was like stepping into the Arctic. And lastly there is clearly a bug spreading around that hotel or a huge load of food poisoning because the paper thin walls heard everyone being sick through the night, myself included, do not stay here

Pros Lovely staff - all the staff are very friendly and helpful. That’s bar staff, desk staff and cleaners. All great and make the experience great. Clean - hotel is mostly very clean in the places we spent our time. The bathroom could have done with a touch up considering a few rusty parts and chipped edges of the shower area but nothing alarming. Cons Toilet brushes - I didn’t see one toilet brush and I think these are needed in hotels. Lifts - the lifts caused the most frustration for us and the other guests. They are unpredictable, small, one didn’t work and guests were advising each other to manually hold the doors shut. Sometimes we’d be waiting for 20-30 mins. This is the biggest downside to the hotel in our opinion. Food quality and labelling - the quality of the food is mostly poor in that it doesn’t taste much of anything. In a blindfold test, all the desserts would taste the same. The labelling of the food is also incorrect for example, the beef rogan Josh was a beef stew and the chicken pad Thai was a chicken pie. We paid for full board but mostly ate out as we wanted to eat something tasty. No aircon but hot - it was hot during our stay in April however the air-con only produced hot air which was not useful. Nights were sweaty and humid. Pool 11:00 til 5 - oddly, the pool opens at 11:00 and very slowly as the lifeguard takes his time. Then closes at 5pm and the lifeguard starts closing it at 4pm. Thin walls - the hotel walls are very thin and so you can clearly hear everything above, below and on each side. It was so loud that it sounded like people were in our room. Most of Benidorm has noise coming in from outside but here, all the noise comes from within. As a family, we would only stay here again if there was an exceptionally good offer on. Otherwise, we will likely not be returning. My wife enjoyed though.
