“Biedny Hotel”
The hotel is large but modest, two and a half stars at most. I was there September 6-13, 2025 A very small pool right on the street. Six people in the pool is already crowded. A children's pool - I have a larger bathroom. Very poor food, very little choice, old bread for several days, hard, old rolls, juice machine - practically only water. If you don't smoke, it's hard to find a spot outside—the stench of cigarettes is everywhere! There's a designated smoking area by the hotel door, so when you enter the hotel, you're filled with cigarette smoke, which is awful. The hotel has two small elevators to eight floors - sometimes you have to wait a long time. The only advantage of the hotel is cleanliness, the rooms are cleaned daily and towels are changed. The walls in the rooms are very thin, you can hear everything from other rooms. Officially, the hotel has 4 stars! My rating is two and a half plus. For example, the Golden Taurus Hotel, which is nearby, has 4 stars. I was there last year. It's a great hotel, it deserves 4 stars, but Santa Monica is a maximum of two and a half stars; it can't be compared. I don't recommend it.
“Two star surprise”
Poor food, wife had a stomach upset, short staffed, some young staff looked like they didn’t want to be there. Otherwise okay. Great entertainment team. I’d say this is a two star hotel.
“Room 522 caused bites in bed every night to my wife and me children found dirty underwear and empty bottles over bunks”
Food was good, but room was poor. Old pair of boys underwear and empty bottles found in the room and bitten 17 times in 4 days
“Disappointed to say the least...”
Disappointed to say the least. Food was basically and samely. Snack bar was understaffed and staff there were aggressive and rude. Absolutely zero mini disco of an evening only offering bingo with a toothpick to try and win a cap.. We came to this hotel every year for the last 20 odd years at least..never again...such a shame because it used to be the highlight of our year.
“Heartbreakingly disappointed”
Hi. Me and my family have been regular guests to this hotel for 20+ years, we were SO excited to be back, for the fun entertainment around the pool, for the great food and the fab shops in the town, HOWEVER heartbreakingly disappointed to say the least. Food was poor, lacked variety and not suitable for picky eaters- we were all inclusive however ate out most days. Only 2 coffee machines in the restaurant, so might as well forget about a coffee. Breakfast was the same every morning- often no baked beans. Bar staff- only 2 people working at a time, manning both the inside and outside bar between themselves, therefore long waits to be served. One female bar worker was extremely rude, spoke (or should I say shouted) at us like we were a piece of something on her shoe...her whole body language was passive aggressive and came across horrid. I understand her and her colleague (another female at the time who was clearly new) was under a lot of stress managing 2 bars between themselves, but customer service extremely poor. Entertainment - what entertainment? No kids club like there used to be. No dancing around the pool like there used to be. 1 game of water polo a day which took up the majority of the swimming pool- completely inappropriate considering this was held in the shallow area where the poor swimmers were. Nothing to entertain the kids throughout the day. In the evening, bingo with a tooth pick???? Dangerous for the little ones..and poor prizes of a note pad for a line and a free drink for full house (most of us all inclusive so laughable.) Maybe a singer of some sort or karaoke. Nothing like it used to be. No mini disco- (kids were very upset about this as this is their highlight of the holiday usually!). No entertainment team putting on shows. We often went to bed early or went out to find our own entertainment because it was so disappointing. We used to LOVE the evening shows, even partaking in the past, so as you could imagine very anticlimactic to find this. Shops and bars - some good shops in the town, however most have closed over the years. Some really nice bars, but best to go later on in the evening to get the best entertainment! Local restaurants- wonderful Chinese just down the road from the hotel- cheap meals and great quality! McDonald's and burger king also not too far! And many kebab shops! Lifts- only 2 lifts for the whole hotel. Pray you're not one of the upper floors because YOU WILL be waiting for ages for a lift, especially if you're in a wheelchair or if you have kids. Shower- one minute perfect temperature, next minute scolding hot- BE CAREFUL. This was the case in my room and 3 other family members rooms. Rooms- in general clean and tidy. Does the job. New towels daily if you put them on the floor. Bedding not changed. When we arrived there was a packet of paracetamol left on the floor, kinder chocolate in the fridge and sunglasses on the side- makes me question the attention to detail. All in all, disappointed that it did not live up to it's expectations. We travelled out as a family of 20 as our last holiday as a family, we chose hotel Santa Monica as it held such a massive piece of our hearts, however heartbreakingly disappointed. All of our great memories live in the past, just sad we couldn't make any more for the future. After 20+ years of loving this hotel, I will not be returning and will be opting to stay at another hotel in Calella. I am sorry you have lost your excellence Hotel Santa Monica.
“Basic but meets needs”
Basic hotel, rooms clean, bed comfortable. Rooms feature air-conditioning and mini fridge. No where to refill water bottles, need to use a reusable cup at pool bar for which you pay a deposit. No parasol around the pool, not sure if you need to buy your own or hire them, no information given about them. Restaurant - small but food is ok. Small selection. You have to go to the bar if you want a drink, 1 barman on so ques can form. Tip if your not all inclusive you can add drinks on at meal times for €2.70 per person per day. Pool is deep, starts at 1.4m near the steps but quickly goes deeper to over 2 meters. Rooms - walls are quite thin and you can hear neighbours talking. Location is good, 5 mins from beach - 10 mins from main shopping area. Coach pick up / drop offs to and from Airport are a few min walk away on the main road
