“Overall, this is a good hotel, a few tweaks would make it better.”
The best

Overall good, a few tweaks needed to make it better. We were on the 2nd floor and had booked a sea view room which was spacious and had a good sized balcony and fabulous views. Perfect location close to the sea and all the shops and restaurants. Positives: Clean spacious room with great sea view. Comfortable bed and choice of 3 pillows each. Good quality bed linen and large towels. Nice Rituals toiletries in the bathroom. Good sangria and reasonably priced drinks. Complimentary water each day Good selection at breakfast and the English Breakfast tea is nice. I enjoyed the omelettes made to order. The staff on Reception were really helpful and professional. Negatives: Some staff especially the two barmen in the main bar seem miserable and not helpful. It takes a long time to get served a drink in the main bar even when not very busy as they only have about 3 or 4 people on duty. A few of the waiters and waitresses at breakfast were miserable. No drawers in the room and not enough coat hangers in wardrobe. Nowhere in room to hang  wet clothes/coats to dry. The kettle, tea and coffee making area is in the corner of the wardrobe, close to the bed and awkward to get to. Food at breakfast was often luke warm sadly. Food/drink was not all labelled. As a vegetarian,  this was frustrating. Dull lighting in room. Air con/heating was not on in our room. All in all, a great holiday,  but with a few tweaks the hotel could be perfect. We will probably come again one day.

“Great location and staff”
The best

The hotel is in a fabulous location, on the sea front and close to the old town and many bars and restaurants. All staff were friendly and professional and Fatima our room maid was particularly wonderful. Our room was serviced daily and linen and towels changed frequently. The lobby bar was great and very reasonably priced. Breakfast offered a good choice with omelettes cooked to order. They offered lactose free milk which was great for me I would stay here again.

“Nice hotel, room for improvement”
The best

Mixed experience, front lobby is absolutely gorgeous, fab decor, attention to detail. Our room was okay, floor tiles need a good steam clean, sockets, radiator all wonky. Fuse box in room extremely noisy we had to take our our room card at night to try and get to sleep. Air con was super noisy and wouldn't work when the card was out anyway! Beds were very annoying, continually separating! Spa area extremely run down, we paid €25 each to access it and I feel €10 would have been more than enough given the poor facilities. My husband had an overpriced and disappointing massage which left him feeling worse after it! Breakfast was the poorest we've yet experienced at any hotel we've stayed at, quality control needs addressed! Frothing tomato salsa, dissentegrating Lemons, lots of food past its best -tasteless cheeses and horrific sausages and bacon. However the staff were all friendly, breakfast room and poolside all very clean. Rain shower was great. Great location. All in all probably one.of the nicer hotels to stay in puerto de la cruz and with certain issues addressed has the potential to be so much better!

“Avoid room 1209 if you want any peace.”
The best

On arrival pleasant reception area and swift check in. Room felt dirty on arrival with floors tacky and covered in dust ( may have not been used for a while) Bathroom tap loose and could do with good clean or replacement. Light over shower area continually flicked on and off which was reported but not resolved. Wardrobe could do with more hangers, no iron in room. The breakfast buffet was fairly varied but unfortunately food that was intended to be hot was barely lukewarm as mentioned in previous post. Finally the room was directly beneath the gym which resulted in excessive noise from 6am to 10pm daily. The weights that were often dropped on floor sounded like they would come through the ceiling, there is no soundproofing and music and noise awoke me every morning from 6am. I approached reception to ask if gym users could be asked to be more considerate with the weights in particular, I was advised they would pass message on for attention. Unfortunately, the noise has continued no matter what time of day I have returned to room to attempt to rest and has totally ruined my holiday. Perhaps those that read this review who use the gym could try and replace weights/kettlebells in the stand rather than slamming and banging to floor. I did go up several times to politely ask users to be more considerate and noticed no change to signs reflecting my concerns. Please avoid room 1209 unless you are happy to be woke at 6am prompt everyday and would like to retire to room for rest/sleep before 10pm as my concerns have been ignored. The pool bar takes a long time to get served and food ordered was cold on arrival. There is no atmosphere at this hotel and it seems flat with staff attitude to match. Overall, very disappointed with stay and certainly not reflective of price paid.

“Not 4 Star, Better value elsewhere”
The best

No way this hotel should have 4 stars. No afternoon activities, Evening entertainment was poor at best. We walked straight past it every night to go elsewhere, was no shortage of empty seats. The hotel is flat with no atmosphere. The restaurant had very little labelling of food & labeled of correct items. A good percentage of food was cold, even though it was on hot plates that were set to min temp if switched on. The Lobby bar only has a max of 2 staff, Was told to order at table from QR code. 1 phone froze on the app & mine took me to another site. after being ignored at the bar for 20 Mins left to go to sports bar down street. As for the pool bar, Never had to crunch sugar in a Sangria before. The Spa pool circuit is the best thing to the hotel. Hotel in good location but will not go to another Melia branded hotel in future as had much better value & quality from other brands in the past.

“Ticks All The Right Boxes”
The best

This hotel has changed hands since I originally booked it and is now managed by The Melia Brand. Situated quite conveniently near the centre of Puerto De La Cruz, my Spouse and I upgraded our room to that of a sea view, which was worth it. The room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. We had a free bottle of mineral water everyday which was nice. Service was faultless throughout our stay - especially all employees on reception. Professionalism is always appreciated. No real complaints about the food except I would have preferred the evening buffet desserts to be more varied. I treated myself to a pampering back massage which was very good. If you fancy splashing out, ‘The Level’ provides a more exclusive and executive experience. Would I stay here again ??? Absolutely !!! The Costa Atlantis is a credit to The Melia Hotel Chain.
