Well-located hotel with easy access to central areas and local attractions.
Staff very well trained & anxious to please, with mentions of helpfulness.
Mixed experiences with a few notable positives, leading to a somewhat positive overall sentiment.
Lack of daily water bottles and heating in the pool for winter were noted.
Issues with amenities in the room; however, basic room quality seemed decent.
General sentiment reflects some expectations were not met for the price paid.
“Great time”
Perfect location, Beautiful room, staff was very friendly and helpful. Easy walk to beach, about 30 seconds just across the street. Very bountiful breakfast. Lots to choose from. I would definitely go back again.
“Not very happy”
We arrived late in the hotel and the check in was good. When we arrived in the room we noticed that it was very warm and switched on the airco. To my surprise the airco wasn’t working so I went back to the reception and learnt that the airco wasn’t working because it is to early in season. Huhhhhhh? You would think that the individual guest is supposed to decide if it’s to warm or not in his room. So now we sleep with the balcony door open and here late at night our neighbors chatting on the balcony and get there sigaretten smoke in the room. Yesterday we went to the beach club for a drink and we where refused to move 2 tables together because it’s the 4 of us. So we couldn’t sit together and left. I don’t know if this is the Spanish hospitality? We where thinking to come back in September again but I have my doubts now,,,,,,,,
“Good 4 star hotel”

“Wonderful stay at the Melia”
This is hotel is fabulous. The location is perfect. From the minute we got off the coach we were greeted by friendly staff and that didn’t change throughout our whole stay, they couldn’t do enough for you. The 1st impressions are that the hotel is modern, clean. We were so impressed, we arrived just before 12, our room was ready. We booked the level room and were so pleased we did, would definitely book this room again, to be able to use the facilities. The Level area has the sun all day, always sun beds, stunning views, a mixture of snacks and drinks. We went half board, there was a good selection of food, it felt a very relaxed atmosphere, very clean, always replenishing food, reasonable price drinks. There was entertainment every evening. The hotel is in such a good location, minutes from the old town which was beautiful. Lovely walks in both directions from the hotel, we walked for miles. Excellent train service to Malaga and other resorts on the coast. I feel I am quite fussy and couldn’t fault anything.
“Far friendlier hotels in the area”
We arrived at the Meliá on 03/04/26 at 11am and were advised that check-in was at 2pm, which was absolutely fine. We left our luggage and went out to explore, as the receptionist mentioned the room might be ready earlier. However, when we returned at 2:15pm, we were told the room wouldn’t be available until after 3pm. At this point, the receptionist, Virginia, was dismissive and came across as though she simply didn’t care. I asked to speak with a manager. After some delay, we were told we could move to a different room, but since we had paid for an upgrade, we were advised to wait. When the manager, Ricardo, eventually came over, he initially apologised but made no effort to resolve the situation or speed up room availability. We decided to wait in the bar area and asked for directions. I also requested the official complaints process. At this point, Ricardo’s attitude changed noticeably — he returned with complaint forms in Spanish and placed them abruptly on the desk. When I again asked where the bar was, his response was simply: “If you’re making an official complaint, find it yourself.” When we finally got to the room at 3pm, the amenities were lacking — just one small complimentary bottle of water, one tea bag, and no milk, we are travelling as a couple. There are additional charges that feel unnecessary for a hotel of this standard. While towels for the pool/beach are provided, there is a €1 daily fee to have them washed. The rooftop pool costs €75 per person per day, with no clear justification for the price. Even the beach bar across the road, which is owned by the hotel, requires payment for sun loungers. Lots of areas require additional fees soft sofas etc. We also spoke to several other guests who shared similar experiences regarding the rudeness and lack of friendliness from staff. This was disappointing, especially as we’ve visited the area before and know there are far more welcoming hotels available. On a positive note, the breakfast is excellent and the hotel itself is clean. However, in our opinion, the level of service does not meet the expectations of a 4-star hotel. The unfriendly and unhelpful reception staff significantly impacted our stay, and we would not choose to stay here again.
“Excellent Hotel”
We stayed for 5 days last week. The Hotel is located beside the old and new town in order to have the best of both worlds. From the moment we walked in the door, our stay was fantastic. The Reception is modern and the staff are excellent. The bar area and the entertainment is first class, with something different every evening. The pool area on the top floor is awesome with superb views. The staff in the top floor bar are brilliant as is the service. The drinks and food are great value. Our room was on the seventh floor over looking the ground pool and had the sun most of the day. The room and bed was very comfortable and very very clean thanks to the superb room staff. We booked breakfast with the room, the food was very fresh, well cooked with a great variety. I could go on, all I can say is we highly recommend this hotel, it is one of the very best and yes we will be back. Thankyou to all of the staff and management for a fantastic stay and yes we will be back. Awesome hotel.
