Great pools and good level of service at ‘The Level’.
Lovely staff, very friendly and accommodating.
Nice views, but challenging accessibility for those with mobility issues.
A mixed experience with great positives but significant downsides.
Clean and large room, despite some noise issues.
Great breakfast but coffee quality could be improved.
“Magic at the Melia”
Is this hotel for you? If you are looking to take your children away to Tenerife, don't look at this hotel. It is DEFINITELY adults only - have a nice day! :) Mobility - the hotel is set on many different levels, and whilst there are plenty of lifts and bridges for access, it may well be a challenge. Your call. Beach - if you want a beach hotel, then this is not for you. It is a 10 minute walk down to the local beach and (about!) a 30 minute walk back up! Noise / party: if you want a hotel where the guests are up partying until 6am and throwing up in the gardens - this is NOT for you:) There are activities / music every night, but it's usually finished by about 10:30pm. Still reading? OK - this could be for you! Melia Jardines is a hotel on the south coast with stunning sea views, set up slightly away from the town. It is only 20 minutes by car from Tenerife's South Airport yet I only saw - saw, not heard - one plane all week! The hotel is spotless - plenty of cleaning and gardening going on all of the time. Everyone is friendly and in spite of it being a fairly large ish hotel, it doesn't feel crammed in or too busy. It's spread over different floors, with floors 6 and 7 having the best views of the sea. We were in room 604 - great view, large terrace too, which gets the sun more or less all day. (Thank you to our cleaning staff - our room was spotless all week, thank you so much!) Average age of guests: ranged from young people in their 20s to people in their 80s. It caters for all and everyone is made to feel welcome. Food: it's great, really fabulous. Plenty of choice - both hot and cold - it also caters for veggies and GF. Loads of it too. Every night has a different theme to the food choices. Staff: the staff make this place so special. From the moment we arrived, to when we left, we felt like we were part of their family. The Levels: you pay a bit extra for being in the Levels, which gives you access to a more compact dining area for breakfast, with wait staff as opposed to a buffet. Plus the Levels has its own swimming pool, with loungers. Sadly, people still feel the need to 'bag' a lounger by placing a green towel on it, which meant that invariably it was seemingly full, yet many of the loungers were unoccupied. There is another beautiful pool - at the very bottom of the resort - with plenty of space around it, loads of loungers and there is also a pool restaurant down there for food and drinks. Again, it is spotless. The Levels also gives you access to Casa Nostra (for free) - fabulous Italian restaurant. Really amazing food and plenty of it. We spent our wedding anniversary there - it was such a lovely evening. The food was tremendous, speedy service and everyone was delightful. All inclusive: we were all inclusive - which clearly, as the name suggests, gives you access to everything and I do mean everything! Staff - as mentioned - they make this place and go out of their way to make your stay a fabulous one. To name but a few with whom we really gelled: Julian, Ivan (the trainee), Natalia, Lisbet, Lara, Angel, Marena and Carlos - who had lived in London and with whom we had a good chat about British police! Many others were involved in making our stay a fabulous one, but we really enjoyed the company and warmth of these listed above. Thank you so much for helping to make our stay amazing. Melia Jardines del Teide - thank you for a warm and wonderful week. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back! Jonathan and Peta in room 604. Random info: El Teide - we hired a car from Hertz - brilliant - and drove to the volcano. Didn't go all of the way up but went as far as the Roques in the national park. The views are something else! Los Cristianos town - lovely sandy beach. About 2.5 miles away. Busy town, with lots of bars, restaurants, shops etc etc. Car hire: Hertz in San Miguel - booked online and collect in San Miguel. V easy. Lovely staff, all of whom speak English. V easy to sort out. And quite reasonably priced.
“Lovely hotel with great staff”
We were here for a week's half board just before Easter. We asked for and got a high floor which had a magnificent view over the 'level' pool and Costa Adeje. We are nearly 80 and thought the reviews re mobility problems would be an issue but once we sorted out which lifts to use we were fine. Only short relatively flat walks between lifts. The rooms are huge(we had a junior suite) and very well maintained except for one issue. The toilet roll holder was falling off the wall (we reported it on the first day but it was not fixed by the time we left). We enjoyed the food especially breakfast and the show cooking. As with all buffets there were times when the food was not as hot as we would have liked but there was a vast range to suit all tastes. There are very few restaurants and supermarkets immediately nearby if you wanted to eat out and our 80 year old legs were not suited to the hilly situation outside the hotel. The area at Fanabe beach was about 20 minutes walk mostly downhill from the low exit of the hotel. We enjoyed lunch at Leonardo's there and took a taxi back uphill for 5 euros which was fine. Entertainment in the evening was OK - mainly singers but didn't always suit our tastes. However one act - the Ethiopian acrobats were absolutely world class. Don't miss them if you have a chance to see them. Just maybe don't sit in the front row! 😄 We made a visit to the local market at Fanabe (Thurs and Sat) which was entertaining('come in and let us rip you off' and genuine counterfeited polo shirts' were common sales pitches. We had a late flight and thought that 30€ each for lunch was a a bit expensive. Drinks generally were about British prices. A lot cheaper elsewhere but good quality. Although a slightly random choice for us it was a very pleasant experience and a lovely hotel with great staff.
“5 star staff 3 star hotel”
5 star staff 3 star hotel The staff here are absolutely fantastic can't do enough to help especially Jonathan in the bar area this lad never stops and is such an asset to the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is no way near a five star, the hotel really needs to be bought up to date the pool looks really attractive but on further inspection you find the paint has come away from the bottom and just looks grubby and uninviting. The rooms have absolutely no sound proofing can hear every foot step from the people above and next door. Then the sound of the maids carts starts at 8 .30 as though on train tracks up and down on the tiled corridor each morning. And the biggest gripe a 5 star hotel would never offer cold food the first two evenings we tried the buffet but it was often cold and tasteless so we gave up on evening meal and ate out pity as we've already paid for it. And breakfast was the same certain item like warm at best so it was croissants and pastries for breakfast. Shame the cold food offerings is continuing as been raised before in previous posts. So my advice would be go to a rival hotel down the road that really is a five star
“Luisa - Reiki”
My mam and I had the most relaxing Reiki session with Luisa at the Melia Jardines del Teide. Her calm energy instantly puts you at ease, and we both left feeling completely rebalanced and refreshed. Even better — this is all included when you stay all inclusive, with so many activities to choose from throughout your stay. Such a beautiful experience… a full reset.
“Excellent, already booking again!”
We regularly stay at Melia hotels and this is one of the best. We stayed half board at The Level as we feel that the extra touches make our holiday special. Our warm welcome, glass of cava and thorough explanation of the hotels services at The Level reception was wonderful- exactly what you expect at a 5* hotel. Our bags were promptly taken to our room and once there, the room services were also explained- an excellent start. Our room was a Level Superior Ocean view suite. A good size, plenty of space and storage, double sinks in the bathroom, and a lovely sea view. All other info on Melia website, it’s exactly as described and photographed. The hotel is spread out over I believe, six floors which are separated by small flights of steps, pretty wooden walkways and beautiful gardens. There are lifts if you don’t want to walk but we liked doing a little exercise. Pool areas- we didn’t use the main pool as we preferred The Level pool which was quieter (no music) with plenty of thickly padded loungers. There were Bali beds for an extra charge, but I’m not a fan of these. There was a drinks area- cool lemon water/water with cups provided to help yourself as well as a (chargeable) pool waiter service. Toilets also nearby. The main pool was much bigger, with lots of subeds to choose from but had a different, less refined feel. The sunbeds had much thinner padding than The Level ones and beds were closer together. The ladies toilet was a single large disabled access cubicle, maybe I missed the others? The pool bottom surface had paint missing from the bottom in multiple areas. I believe this is related to pool activities/pool bikes but it does need to be attended too. I think if I wasn’t a Level guest I would be a bit disappointed for a 5* hotel. It did have a ‘Grab & go’ bar and food ‘hatch’ area (extra charge) and also the gym (no air con) nearby. Food- we stayed half board, not something we normally do. Breakfast at The Level area was great- a menu, fully adaptable and cooked to order with drinks and food at your table. There was also a self service buffet which was lovely. Be sure to wait to be seated or they won’t know you are there- I’ve seen a few negative reviews about wait times but we didn’t have a problem at all. Being really picky, the hot drinks could be better presented. At other Melia hotels the Coffees came in a big cafe style mug with a decoration in the foam whereas ours came in a small mug as you get from the coffee machines. I’m sure all feedback is appreciated, no matter how minor. Snacks and drinks were available all day at The Level lounge all as listed on the website. There was also the cocktail of the day you could access, with ingredients and instructions which was a nice touch. Tapas and premium spirits were available 4-6pm. Being really picky, the snacks were all removed- even nuts and crisps several hours earlier than the 10pm Level close time. Other Melias have it all until close, maybe worth looking at? Buffet restaurant- excellent! As half board guests we could have breakfast here too as well as dinner (drinks as well as water chargeable). Once again, you waited to be seated, which I liked, and you could eat inside or outside which was lovely. The restaurant has beautiful views over the sea, which we loved. Breakfast and dinner buffet food was excellent, with show cooking (scallops, huge prawns fish and steaks) and a nightly theme to prevent repetition. The service was outstanding, plates taken away as soon as empty, drinks offered and served quickly, waiters checking you had everything you need- well done Melia- we were impressed. There are two à la carte restaurants, we had lunch in the grill which we really enjoyed. These are extra charge but not overly expensive. Activities- These were included and bookable on the app or at reception. Highly recommend the cocktail making, wine tasting and cooking-great fun! What makes this hotel special is the staff, every single person was smiley, helpful and genuinely seemed to want to make sure to you enjoyed your stay. Will we be back? Absolutely, for a UK winter holiday, we are already looking at November.
“Lovely hotel with a fantastic view.”
Good location just on the outskirtsof costa adeje. Its up a slight hill which gives it a fanstastic view over costa adeje & the sea, especially from its bar & dining terrace. We loved sitting out on the bar terrace of an evening just looking at the panoramic views. Its Adults Only hotel which meant quiet vibes round entire hotel especially the pool areas. The outside communal areas looked great with waterfalls & little humpback bridges. There were quite a number of steps to get to different levels which suited us and gave us a little exercise. Even though there were lifts, this hotel may not suit people with mobility issues. Night time music entertainment was excellent and not overly loud that you could not hold a conversation. Our room was clean & quite large with a great balcony view over the resort, however some rooms seemed to have outdoor areas directly onto the communal areas which might not suit some. Food was decent but I would not say exciting. Regular soft & alcohol drinks were a reasonable price as we went half board. However cocktails were expensive considering they were out of a bottle. Most of the staff were lovely & friendly, however you do get one or two miserable bar staff. The pool areas had a is clean with lots of sunbeds. All the staff here were helpful & friendly serving drinks & food from a little bar next to the gym. The gym was very clean and equipment was in really good order. There was no air conditioning but there was mobile fans to circulate air which seemed to keep the gym fairly cool. Overall it was a lovely stay at a lovely hotel and we would not hesitate to come back to it.
