“So-so...not terrible, but hardly a noteworthy hotel”
The rooms are compact...but to be fair not tiny. The toilets have that oooooh-so trendy feature of NON-soundproof sliding doors. So if you want to be sitting on the toilet in the middle of the night and have full sound effects audible to anyone else in the room....this is your place. Three stars is about right...decent...but no more.
“Central and convenient”
I had the lovely opportunity to stay at this beautiful hotel during my visit to Madrid, attending an international conference past April. The hotel is centrally located within the city and is accessible by foot the famous Gran Via, Plaza del Sol and even the Plaza famous Mayor! Comfortable and convenient. Recommended for first timers to this vibrant city!
“Very pleasant stay”
This was a very nice hotel. The rooms are on the small side but modern and very nicely appointed. The furnishings were pleasing - hotel room chairs that actually were comfortable! Wi-Fi worked fine.
“Would stay again!”
We stayed in a Level suite and had a great stay. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was big and lots of extras like slippers, dressing gowns, Ritual toiletries, etc. The Level Lounge was a big attraction, we went for daily complimentary tapas on an evening before we went out, and after our meal we used to stop off for a complimentary ice cream in The Lounge and a glass of wine. Breakfast for Level rooms was served in The Lounge too, which we had for a couple of mornings, and it was nice, but on the 3rd morning we thought we would try the normal breakfast room, and that was so much better -lots more choice. There is work going on at the moment-scaffold up, but it didn’t disturb us at all.
“NEVER AGAIN!”
Subject: Urgent Complaint Regarding Unacceptable Stay Conditions – Immediate Action Required Dear Melia Madrid Management, I am writing to formally express my outrage and extreme disappointment regarding the appalling conditions I experienced during my recent stay at your hotel. To begin with, I was absolutely horrified to discover blood stains on the bed linens upon checking into my room. This is not only deeply unhygienic but also completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that claims to offer a high standard of hospitality. Such negligence raises serious concerns about your housekeeping standards and the overall safety of your facilities. To make matters worse, I was abruptly awakened at 8:00 AM by loud drilling and construction noise, due to scaffolding work during the stay taking place just outside the building. Nowhere during the booking process was I informed that such disruptive construction would be occurring. If I had been made aware, I would have chosen alternative accommodation. I was looking forward to rest and relaxation—not to be jolted awake by industrial noise. This experience was not only distressing but completely at odds with the standard of comfort and professionalism I expected from your brand. I demand a full explanation of how such a lapse in cleanliness occurred, why guests were not informed of the construction, and what immediate steps you are taking to address this. Furthermore, I am requesting a full refund for this disgraceful stay. Anything less would be an insult to your guests and your own brand reputation plus I will post this review online also if nothing is done. I expect a prompt and serious response to this complaint. Please consider this a formal notice that I will not hesitate to escalate this matter publicly and through relevant consumer protection bodies if it is not resolved appropriately. John Cahill
