“Hidden gem with exceptional hospitality, decor, and food”

This is the type of place I want to keep for myself as a secret magical getaway, but I guess I'll share... Sole and Jon exemplify hospitality. They have made superb choices in creating a culinary and accommodation experience that matches and elevates its spectacular mountain surroundings. You will be immersed in a historic space with all the comforts of modernity, but without losing any of the special touches that give Mendi Goikoa Bekoa its character. The rooms are exquisite and comfortable, I cannot fathom why they have two stars. And I fear no words will do justice to the food. Incredible. From the wood fired bread made down the street, to the freshest produce, to the absolute best torrija you will ever try. Oh yeah ...the breakfast. The butter, jam, and granola are all made right there, the apples are picked from town, the baked goods are baked from scratch in a wood fired oven down the street, the yogurt is divine, the smoked salmon is unbelievable. Come hungry because every bite is unforgettable, and the fact that it comes included is a steal.

The location is idyllic. We loved the style of the hotel, the food and the wine list were very well done, and breakfast the following morning was one of the best I've had in a hotel.

The dinner menu. What we ate was really good but the menu contained very few dishes that we were tempted to try and we normally eat a wide range from Europe and Asia food . Also a wide range of gourmet menus - my wife was a journalist for hotel magazines and we have eaten and travelled with a wide range of Michelin starred and other chefs. This may be tried a bit too hard to be "different" for all the dishes
