“simple room that does the job when you are on the road! Nice people.”
Good value for little money. Simple, clean room with bathroom. There is a bar below and it is easy when you come from the highway.

“A handy main road stopover”
Located on the main road west out of Oropesa, Mesón de Lagartera and its sister hotel La Zarzuela, sit either side of a roundabout on the edge of Largatera. As with most main road hotels, it doesn’t have a specific address (this one is Ctra. Extremadura Km.150) so Google Maps was needed to pinpoint its location. There’s a large car park and check-in is in the bar with access to the first floor rooms off that. My room overlooked the front terrace and main road. Although I’m going mention these things I don’t want anyone who can accept basic accommodation to be put off staying here because it was only 25€ for the room, the staff were lovely and it was a perfect overnight location to stay on my journey. There were no bedside lights, there was some damage around the plug in the bath, the central room light didn’t have a shade and was hanging by a wire protruding from a hole in the ceiling, the aerial lead and wire to the TV merely hung loose to a plug lower in the wall, there was just a single bent wire hanger in the wardrobe and the pillow left a lot to be desired. Having said all that, I had wi-fi, everything worked, it was quiet, I slept well and the shower was efficient and hot. The bar is open all day until late but the restaurant is closed, with meals available at La Zarzuela which is a short walk across the roundabout. The 13,30€ three-course menu including a bottle of wine had a choice of twelve starters and twelve main courses. It wasn’t gourmet but it was excellent. I had breakfast served on the front terrace of Le Mesón in the company of some locals and one of their dogs before heading west. As I say, the staff were lovely, especially the young lady who, although finally unsuccessful, spent some time trying to find me a pin which would open the card slot on my tablette, even to the extent of taking out her ear ring and trying that. I wasn’t at all disappointed with my overnight stay. It was what I expected although the evening meal was a bonus.
I would recommend they change the pillow.
