“Disappointing Experience Due to Lack of Communication About Pool Closure”
1. We recently stayed at the Morocco apartment and while the accommodation itself was generally satisfactory, our overall experience was marred by several issues. One of the main reasons we chose this apartment was for the pool, which was advertised as open year-round. However, upon arrival, we were told by other residents that the pool was closed. There were no signs initially, and the language barrier made it difficult to understand what was happening. The following day, signs were posted indicating that the pool was indeed closed, and we noticed workers draining the pool, suggesting that this was a planned closure. It was clear that other residents were aware of this in advance, yet we, as guests, were not informed at any point during the booking process or upon check-in. When we addressed this with the owner, we were informed that the pool closure was due to regional water restrictions, which is understandable. However, this should have been communicated to us before our arrival. As international tourists, we were not aware of this local law, and it was disappointing that such a significant aspect of the accommodation was unavailable without any prior notice. Had we known about the pool closure, we might have chosen a different accommodation, especially since there were cheaper options available without a pool. The lack of transparency and communication was a major letdown.
2. Additionally, we were asked to pay extra fees upon arrival. These fees were not clearly explained to us and had to be paid in cash. The owner did not have any change, which resulted in us paying more than what was requested. This lack of clarity and professionalism further detracted from our experience. Moreover, we received an excessive number of emails from the owner prior to our stay, which felt overwhelming. This constant communication added to our frustration, especially given the lack of critical information about the pool closure. The check-in process was also confusing, with inconsistent instructions from different contacts. To add to our discomfort, we were asked to have photos taken of our passports, even though Booking.com already had this information. This felt unusual and made us uncomfortable. Overall, while the apartment itself was decent, the combination of poor communication, hidden fees, unavailability of advertised amenities, excessive pre-booking emails, inconsistent check-in instructions, and the uncomfortable request for passport photos made our stay disappointing. We hope future guests are informed about such important details in advance to avoid similar experiences.

The only positive things: - The view is great + nice location walking if you want to visit the beach side of Malaga. - Pictures of the apartment are pretty accurate. As you can see nothing fancy with a bit outdated furniture here and there, but fine enough. - The cleaner that met us during the check-in was super kind and left more than enough bedsheets, towels etc. for us.
Disappointing experience overall. I never complain, even when I should sometimes. If I can help another traveller however, here goes: - It started with the agency letting us check-in on the first day only after 20:00, when their policy states from 16:00. They accepted the booking I did early that morning. I tried several attempts to reach the (email, whatsapp, calls) to arrange check in. They responded hours later around 13:30 informing me that check in was available after 20:00. Their excuse was that they needed to arrange cleaning. Zero effort and coordination, few examples: - Their general company number instructed me to write (and not to call) another colleague for check in. That person gave us info that was inconsistent to what was already discussed with their main office number. - They asked me for my passport details via whatsapp, that I already shared via mail as the booking confirmation instructed. Deposit + extra pay: - The company sent at least three messages regarding the 250 EUR deposit, saying that the cleaner would not let us in, if we wouldn’t pay the deposit before our check in time. We still had at least 5-6 hours before check in time. It thus felt aggressive. - Only until after I looped in Booking.com to help get our deposit back, the agency made a transfer. - They kept €21 of the deposit behind. Still waiting to hear why, now 2.5 months later. - They wrote two times that I should bring €56 in cash at check-in, but when I asked for an invoice they said they meant to write €6 only. When I asked what the €6 was for, no response. After that the other number wrote us that we had to pay €56 in cash at the check in. As you can imagine, pretty frustrating. I held my ground and asked them for an invoice instead. Haven't gotten one. Cold water + broken things: - Warm water didn't even last 5 minutes for the first person taking a shower - Oven was broken - Washing machine had broken part

Stay was great! Just waiting on my 250 euro deposit that was not listed on the reservation when I booked but i paid it via credit card upon my arrival its been over a month and I have yet to receive the refund. I reached back out and i was told it would be done that has been another two weeks and i still havent seen it. For the price i think a hotel is more suitable city center with ocean view and you dont need an additional deposit on top of the expensive room rate
