If I had to mention one downside, it would be the sound insulation — noise from the hallway and rooms could sometimes be heard. However, this didn’t significantly impact our experience, and we would definitely consider staying here again.

It’s a shame as the building is lovely and the street is very quaint, but basically it’s very dangerous. There’s a gang that are permanently waiting on the corner near the park a few doors up, day and night. I was there two nights and witnessed two arrests, people running up and down the street screaming and drunks all on the same street. I’ve travelled to many cities on my own but never been frightened to leave after dark before. And you can’t just relax in the “bar” as it’s a few bottles behind reception and a few lounge chairs. The door is permanently locked and when you leave for the airport you are advised to stay inside and wait or you’re a target with luggage. So basically spent two nights in a hotel room reading!

The location is a problem. It is along a narrow pedestrian street and taxis do not want to go there. We had to carry our suitcases about 300m when we arrived. When we were leaving, there was no problem as the hotel arranged a taxi. Also the area is a bit dodgy - many people warned us to be careful.

I was asked to hand a physical credit card during checkin, even though my stay was pre-payed with a card I did not have with me right then. The interaction was quite awkward -- I believe they wanted a card in case they needed to charge extra costs, but the communication with the desk staff was not in any way clear. I provided a different card and all went well in the end.
