“I loved my stay there”
“Great rural location with rustic charm”
A great spot, rural in location in small hamlet in Picos. A unique way to experience life off the beaten track - great for stop over whilst touring the Picos on Motorcycles

The bathroom didn’t have a curtain and all the water splashed onto the floor
“Beautiful stay in Villar de Vildas”
Exceptional location Room was very nice, clean and comfortable Friendly helpful staff
“We absolutely loved this beautiful, hidden place very real, down to earth and friendly.”
We loved this charming traditional village and stunning and unspoilt mountain scenery - saw a snake, lizards and so many wild flowers and butterflies. Spent morning hiking up to the abandoned village (we managed it with plenty of small stops, even though we’re in our sixties and not particularly fit), walking past locals farming in the traditional way. Beautiful scent of drying hay in the air, the sound of birdsong, crowing cockerels and cowbells and spectacular mountain views. Back to the hotel for what felt like the tastiest cold beer ever. And the food! Absolutely fantastic home cooked food (prepared by the hotel owner, who puts on a special hat and becomes ‘the chef’) super tasty and huge portions. No exaggeration to say this was some of the best food we had in two week Asturias and Galicia road trip - and we both love our food. Over-used word, but it was the epitome of ‘authentic’. Order one dish between two - try the cachopas (spelling from memory), leek pie with cheese sauce, excellent salads and apple pud - not all at once, though. You will burst! Download a great novel before you go (internet very sketchy) and spend the afternoon in deep peace. You will feel a million miles away from the madness of modern life. Our two nights here felt like a retreat - the kind of place you could spend much longer to reset, recharge and remember how beautiful nature is without all the (literal and metaphorical) noise.
Our Spanish! The family who run the hotel were very tolerant of our pathetic attempts, and full of smiles - but it would have been great to be able to chat to locals who gather for a beer at sundown, and local tales of bears invading the village (apparently more here than anywhere else in Spain) and other creatures - this area is teeming with wildlife.
