“Amazing experience.”
My stay at Occidental Puerto Banús was truly an exceptional experience that I will remember for a long time. From the very moment of arrival, you can feel the high level of service – the staff is incredibly kind, professional, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. The rooms are spacious, modern, and spotlessly clean, which adds to the overall sense of comfort and relaxation. I would especially highlight the attention to detail, visible in every aspect of the stay. The hotel facilities are excellent – the pool area is beautiful and perfect for unwinding, creating a true Mediterranean atmosphere. The food is also fantastic: diverse, fresh, and delicious, with a wide selection that caters to every taste. The location is ideal – being so close to Puerto Banús allows for easy walks, enjoying luxury surroundings, and the stunning coastline. Overall, this is a place where you feel genuinely welcome, and where every detail is designed to make your stay perfect. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality, comfort, and an unforgettable experience!
“Wonderful stay at this Barcelo gem”
Have stayed at other Barcelo hotels and this is a real gem. Excellent location, really friendly Spanish staff and everything new, clean and smart.
“Modern ways which have no class!”
Hotel is lovely no complaints at all. I like that the female lifeguard is strict and makes the pool environment feel safe as so many places are too rowdy, I like the no drinking while in or sitting around the pool area. Great room, breakfast, staff, location. Just an observation, not really the hotel's fault but perhaps some stricter rules at breakfast around 2 events which are becoming way too regular, 1. People attending breakfast in their pyjamas is not respectable, it's a public space in a smart hotel, not some rundown housing scheme in the UK, and 2. People holding loud conversations via loudspeaker on their phones. Breakfast should be a calm, peaceful start to the day...both of these practices are rude, have some class people! Otherwise no complaints.
“Excellent hotel great location”

“Early Season Break”
We stayed at the Occidental from March 22nd for a week. Our flight was a morning arrival, so our room wasn't ready when we arrived. The reception staff were very friendly and stored our luggage while we ventured down to the marina for some lunch. The marina is a 5 minute walk straight down the road opposite the restaurant. EL Corte Ingles and the Marina shopping centres are also about 5 minutes walk if you turn left out of the hotel entrance. Our room was ready when we returned. It was on the 5th floor of tower 3, nearer the marina side of the building. First impressions were the room was huge with a small kitchen area with kettle and fridge and a dining table. It had a small balcony with 2 chairs and a table. Sitting out there for an evening refreshment meant you had to listen to the traffic on the highway, but once the balcony door was closed it was very quiet. The TV had a very good selection of English speaking channels and even a facility to cast from your handheld device. The bathroom had 2 sinks, a rainfall shower, toilet and bidet. Pump shower gel, handwash and conditioner were provided. There was a pretty strong drain smell for the duration of our week, but we brought an air freshener with us, so it wasn't a big inconvenience. Cleaning of the room was good, but you couldn't predict when your room would be ready. We always put on the sign for servicing, but it didn't seem to make any difference. The staff at breakfast were very friendly. There was a fabulous selection of food, though some of it could have been warmer; for example the baked beans were always tepid. At the weekend, there was a cook to order omelette station. I can imagine the buffet would be very busy during high season. The bar was good and had a good selection of drinks. The price was reasonable. The seating areas had call bells to alert the staff you wanted to order which was a nice touch. Whether you chose to order at the bar or use the call bell, the service was excellent. La Dolce Vita restaurant was Ok. It's not the place to go for a romantic evening , it has a more functional decor. It was very cold when the door opened, which was quite frequent. The service was Ok, nothing outstanding. The food was only Ok. Considering the huge pizza oven they had the middle of the pizza we ordered was very doughy (undercooked). The pool opened midway through our stay, although they were still touching up areas of paint. Quite a lot of chairs and loungers which aren't reserved because they don't open the gate until the lifeguard arrives. It was very shaded until the afternoon, but that may improve later in the season. The biggest issue was the road noise as the pool runs parallel to the highway. Bring very good headphones or earplugs. Overall, we had a good time. Apart from the highway, the hotel is in a good location. The staff are great and the rooms are very large.
“Not what we expected for a refurbished hotel”
We stayed for 5 nights and ended up having to change rooms 3 times the first room was noisy from the motorway we asked to move to the other side of the hotel the second room had terrible drainage smell and cockroaches and the third room we again had cockroaches. Only one lady we spoke to on the reception was polite the men didn’t seem to want to help they said what’s wrong with the room in a rude way and we were told the hotel full . The breakfast was not that brilliant the only thing I really liked was the fresh orange juice machine. We saw one lady emptying the drainage for the coffee machine into the containers used to serve the juices , which we thought was unhygienic. The poolside is very noisy from the motorway not relaxing at all.
