Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Fab location for the theme parks, about a 10/15 min walk to the beach front.
Rooms were described as lovely and modern without any complaints.
The pool area was noted as lovely but some issues with service around it.
Despite some issues, the overall stay was enjoyable, and the desire to return shows a positive sentiment.
Staff were reported to be rude and unhelpful at times, particularly in the restaurant.
Meals were deemed unsatisfactory, raising concerns over overall value.
“More like a 2 star hotel.”
I can honestly say I have never been to such an awful hotel. Restaurant wasn’t able to cope with the amount of people and hence no replenishment of food. Our main gripe though was the bar staff. Ignored when you went to order drinks and when eventually served, drinks were banged down on counter so hard , I don’t know how glass never broke, and this was consistent, even although we kept on being mannerly and courteous, it certainly wasn’t returned. Salou is a lovely place, but hotel a huge let down.
“October Half Term”
Stayed here over October half term not expecting the hotel to be too busy as it was end of season and the hotel was due to close the following week. We found the hotel to be just as busy as July/ August stays - they had made a great effort with the Halloween decorations. The restaurant area is huge and was extremely busy, we were a group of 14 and never sat all together except once when we moved a table and the waitress came over going mad! The restaurant staff were extremely rude and we encountered issues every time we went in - The man on the door ticking your name off again extremely rude and not friendly at all. My sister in law slipped on water that was coming in from the ceiling and fell on the floor - not one member of staff came to her to see if she was ok - i had to go over to tell staff and they just looked at me ??? The food choices are fantastic and we had no complaints about the food at all - something for everyone and a huge selection. Had a problem with one of the cleaners in the reception area who shouted at my husband when she saw him looking if the pool area was open then he walked on a floor she had mopped she went crazy ! To the point that I went to reception and the lovely man on reception could only apologize and said he witnessed it and it was not acceptable - I asked him why were staff so angry and miserable - he said language barrier perhaps ?? Never in all the hotels we have stayed at had to complain about staff rudeness - I personally think we were the last week of the year and the staff had just had enough ! Location - fab location for the theme parks prob about a 10 / 15 min walk and then the same again down to the beach front . Pool area - lovely big pool area which we did get to use . Rooms - lovely modern rooms. Would I stay again ?? Yes but next time just ignore the rude staff !!!
“Nice hotel but the restaurant was a big let down.”
The hotel rooms were lovely & modern, the cleaning staff were excellent & very friendly, the reception staff extremely helpful. The animation team were excellent with the kids. The big disappointment for us was the restaurant, there were 9 of us & we all felt the same way, big lines waiting to get in once in the lack of clean tables, 5 days out of 7 we had to clean our tables ourselves while the staff stood about talking to each other, a few times we asked to order drinks & she said yes 5 mins & never came back to us. The food was the same most days, we had full board & wished we had went room only, the food was cold, raw, one bread area & one knife for that many people just doesn’t work. At lunchtime there is a lot of the tables closed off but you don’t know that until you go to sit down & someone shouts no no closed, one lunchtime we sat at 4 different tables before finding one we could sit at. The staff were very rude, they over charged me for drinks & when I went in to tell them the man started shouting no no, he checked then when he saw there was a mistake he started speaking in Spanish, when he spoke to me in English before hand, he kept saying no refund no refund, very rude man. It was like a treasure hunt to find teaspoons & when you ask the staff the start speaking to themselves & laughing at you. The orange juice was water right down & the coffee machine seems to always be broken. Then you have to line up again to pay for your drinks before leaving. We won’t be coming back to this hotel again, which is a shame as it could be an excellent hotel.
“Hotel management - listen to the reviews!”
OK, let me be clear - this could easily be 4/5 star if the management only listened to customers' reviews. Good and bad... 1. The dining room process is poor. Massive queues morning and night. 2. Coffee machines are not monitored from lack of cups or machines that have faults - every.single.day. 3. Omelette queue needs more staff. 4. Hotel reception staff need work - 2 men are brilliant - 2 ladies not so much; rude, not wanting to help and make you feel like you're a burden. 5. Pool area is lovely - only problem is the trees at the back are too high and block the sun. From 2pm there's not enough space for people wanting the sun. 6. The rooms are lovely. Clean, modern and spacious. 7. Maids attend every day. Excellent. 8. Food is good. 9. Water slides, which is a plus! 10. Good location and only 20 mins from the airport. Hotel management - why are you not addressing these issues that are raised constantly within trip advisor. Listen and be the 4/5 star you should be!
“2 star experience in a 4 star hotel.”
Very quick transfer from the airport to the hotel, only about 20 minutes. Arrived at the hotel at about 11pm to be greeted by the most miserable woman at the reception desk. We had our passports ready and everything we usually need to check in to a hotel in Spain then she asked to see our booking confirmation email. We didn't know what she meant so she showed us an example of it. We then had to search through all our TUI emails to find it, we booked about 10 months ago so that was a lot of emails. Eventually we found it and she made us email it to her. This was such a weird thing, surely the information we provided and the passports with the names on the booking should have been enough. We eventually got to our room, our flight was over 3 hours late so we were exhausted and wanted a coffee and to chill… no kettle, nothing in the room to make a coffee. Never have I stayed in a hotel where they don't provide basic tea and coffee equipment in the room. On to the room itself now, it was spacious, nice big bed, bathroom was decent with a nice walk in shower. Balcony was pretty decent but had very cheap plastic furniture. It was overlooking the pool at the back of the hotel. We had our room “cleaned” twice during our 7 night stay, I say “cleaned” because it wasn't cleaned. They made the beds but didn't actually change the sheets. I know this because I had a mosquito bite on my leg that I had scratched on my second night and left a small blood dot on the sheet, that blood dot remained on the sheet for the entirety of our stay which means the two times we had our room cleaned they just made the bed and didn't change the sheets. They also did not fill up the hand soap in the bathroom with soap, instead they topped it up with water. It was a thick gel like hand soap on the first few days then once they cleaned the rooms it was watery. They also did not top up the shower gel at all, not even with water like the hand soap. On to the restaurant now. I can't really fault the food, it was decent and there was enough choice to please even fussy eaters. However, there is not enough space in the restaurant to accommodate the capacity of the hotel. If you're not in the queue at the opening time for breakfast and dinner then you'll be waiting a long time to get in and by that time everything is either gone or stone cold. They also allow parents to let their children run riot in the restaurant which resulted in them almost getting food and drink dropped on them constantly. There is not sort of queueing system in the restaurant to get to the food, it's a free-for-all with people pushing you out of the way to get to what they want (especially the French guests). The pool area is nice, we only ventured out there once because we had other things to do, there's also water slides and a small park around the side but we didn't go around there at all so I can't comment on the quality of them. There is also an indoor spa pool on the basement level which is adults only between 11am-2pm. There are two hot tubs, a sauna, a steam room and a big spa pool. The girl working on the reception desk for the spa was extremely polite and nice. The pool was very nice but could do with a bit of repair, there were some tiles missing and some covers for the jets were missing too. The hot tubs also had some tiles missing too. The doors for the sauna and steam room both need some repair, they are glass and don't open properly, they scrape on the floor and make an awful noise and the ceiling of the steam room is peeling off. One night it was about 2am and the people in a room a couple of doors down from us were making a lot of noise, I wanted to call down to reception to let them know but there are no instructions on how to use the phones on the room so we had to walk down to reception to let them know. The man on reception instantly got the hotel security to follow us up to our floor and show him where the noise was coming from and sorted it right away. Here is a list of the good and bad points of the hotel. Starting with the good: Ideally located for walking to Portaventura World Decent food All communal areas kept very clean Majority of staff are very nice Big outdoor pool Big indoor pool and spa Big beds Nice showers Here are the bad points: No tea or coffee making facilities in room Children running riot EVERYWHERE People slamming doors at all hours Rooms not cleaned properly Chaotic restaurant A lot of areas need a refurb A sewerage smell lingering in most areas Having to keep your card with your room number on you at all times making the wrist bands absolutely pointless We had a 2 star experience in a 4 star hotel, I'd definitely recommend spending a bit of extra money and going somewhere different. It definitely needs a couple of stars knocked off or a complete overhaul.
“Beyond expectation”
The hotel was beyond my expectation. It is a big hotel but it has everything! The rooms were well equipped and maintained. The breakfast and dinner were beyond imagination. Unlimited with too much choice! The walk to the beach and boulevard is 10 minutes. Many excursions can be booked. And the public bus has a special pass that you can upgrade with very low rates and nice destinations. I will return.
