- The pictures are misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of the property. - There is no private balcony as advertised, which was a major disappointment. - The room had mold and an unpleasant, musty smell, making it feel unhygienic. - The garden is completely neglected, far from the inviting outdoor space we expected. - The owners manage the property remotely from Namibia, leading to a lack of on-site care and responsiveness.
“Misleading advert and health concerns made us leave early”
On our check-in day I received a WhatsApp-call from Namibia. Surprised as I was, because I have no contacts in Namibia, it turned out to be the owner of the apartment. Esther and Fernando, the owners, coordinate the rental of the house from Namibia where they live. There is a local housekeeper who takes care of keys and cleaning, which was well done. Through Whatsapp the owners, gave us loads of good advise of things to do in the area. And because we do not speak Spanish they even made a reservation at a restaurant for us for the first day.
The photos and info on booking.com are fantastic: large, cosy, clean, and modern. The specific apartment we've booked is advertised with a private balcony and a beautiful lawn with a lovely seat. The reality was a major disappointment. We somehow felt uncomfortable immediately upon arrival. The common area feels deserted, and the maintenance is incomparable to the photos in the ad. Even more disappointing, not to say misleading, is that there is no private terrace, but only a balcony that you share with the other apartments. You have to cross the long corridor first to use it. In addition, the land was great for walking dogs - which happened frequently, by evidence of the presents they left - but not suitable as a garden to relax. The garden furniture shown in the ad turned out to be directly in front of an apartment rented by a long-term resident and was therefore not available for use. All these disappointments aside: most disturbing was that there was a strong mold smell in the building, and especially in our apartment. Not a humid farm smell, but a real mold smell. You recognize it if you know it. Whether it was the mold, or an allergic reaction to something else inside the apartment, we do not know, but my husband had such a bad asthma attack at night that we were forced to leave immediately. We were very disappointed how the owners handled our complaint. Promises to call me back, let alone to settle it financially, were not kept, and my words twisted to avoid reimbursement. We find it quite indecent that no form of reimbursement was offered, especially given that we were forced to leave for health reasons. Not to leave out the positive, the day after our formal check-out day we got pictures that showed some repairs were made. I am not sure it shows good faith or not. Our whatsapp, call, and letter to settle a reimbursement for the days we could not stay remain unanswered until today. (fyi, this is my first below 10 review on booking)

The facility is run by a very sympathetic family. We were personally welcomed and felt immediately welcome. The apartment is spacious and stylishly furnished. The kitchen offers everything for self-catering. I must say the bed was the most comfortable we could find in Spain so far. All the best and see you next time.
