Verified reviews from real guests who have already stayed here.
Conveniently located with good access to the airport and nearby attractions.
Breakfast options were limited but generally satisfactory.
Mixed reviews overall; some guests had a pleasant stay but many pointed out significant shortcomings.
Basic amenities were lacking, with no kettle and a charged safe, but other amenities like a pool were appreciated.
Reception staff were curt and unhelpful; however, some reviews mentioned friendly staff overall.
Perceived as not worth the four-star price due to issues in cleanliness and service.
“An honest review July 2027”
Stayed at Ona Palmira Paguera/Ona Paradise in early July for 4 nights. After reading reviews, I was a little apprehensive however we enjoyed our stay, overall the hotel was good! Checkin/staff assistance: We arrived early at around midday, we tried to check in early but the room was not ready, reception staff checked us in and asked we come back to retrieve our keys at 2pm. Was able to leave luggage at the hotel (in restaurant) and came back just before 2pm to get our room. Room (P104): We booked a superior room, which was located in the Ona Paradise building above Reception. It was clean and well-appointed, it was a little small and was much smaller (about half) than other superiors rooms our group were staying in, but apart from that it was good. The room had a good view of the garden and was cleaned daily to a good standard. Payment of EUR 2.5 per day to use the safe which I think for a 4* hotel is pretty poor, if there is a safe in the room you should be able to use it without having to pay. Breakfast: Breakfast was OK, there was a large food selection and the coffee was good. It was however very busy, they only use the restaurant in the Palmira block so it is essentially 2/3 hotels in one using on dining room, which would be fine out of season but not during busy periods. We only had breakfast the one day because of this. Pools: 2 outdoor pools we nice and plenty of seating/loungers. Indoor not open during the summer. About the hotel: generally clean and tidy and the reception/atrium was very nice. The outside area and garden are well kept and is a nice place to spend time around the pools.
“disappointing”
NOT 4 star! 3 star at very best! A couple of Reception staff ( short guy with Muscles) and dark haired lady very very rude, unfriendly and really unhelpful . One lady in bar staff ( same dark haired lady on reception) very rude , not interested in serving and not interested in being polite. Restaurant staff very nice, as were the cleaning staff.. Food was very good ! Room very basic, no coffee or tea making facilities. Expedia website says room safe is free, charged me 20 euros, website says swim up bar ! , This is completely closed.. No swim up bar, the bar is closed down. Cigarette ends around bottom pool area, not cleaned up over a few days.. No entertainment or music, the staff said there was none this season at all. Forget indoor swim pool this is closed for season and they charge yet again for jacuzzi.. Finally on leaving , we asked to store our suitcases , were told to put in an old restaurant, with everyone else’s , this is open to everyone in the hotel , anything could have been stolen! A Promised shower room downstairs before leaving, tried to charge me £4 euro per towel ! Reception Asked would I stay here again ? Definitely a resounding NO! There are really nice 4 star hotels in Paguera, we had to visit in the evenings for entertainment( Free) .. and much better service and friendliness, visited Hotel Valentin(4 star) and HSM linda(3 star) both wiped the floor with Ona Palmira. I would NOT stay here again.
“Terrible Hotel, terrible service, terrible experience!!!”
I booked 3 rooms for the 28th - 2nd July for 7 people. We checked in and went to our rooms to find all rooms were double beds, my booking was for all single beds as none of us are partners. I went back down to reception to be told there were no single beds available and there was nothing they could do! This is absolutely appalling as the booking clearly stated single beds. So for the whole trip we all had to share beds with another person which absolutely ruined the holiday as this was very uncomfortable for everyone!!! On top of this when trying to use the shower on the 1st day, it completely flooded and again another visit to reception to get someone to come fix it. To make matters worse the same room, on 2 occasions my friend got locked out on the balcony in 34 degree heat as the door was faulty, this is extremely dangerous, luckily there was someone else in the room to help her get back in. Previous to us arriving at the hotel I was initially charged for 6 rooms instead of 3 at the hotels error, it took hours and hours of calls and over a month to get my refund. The service in the hotel was appalling, rude staff on the bar and reception and the queues at reception were ridiculous. As the rooms didn’t offer any tea/coffee making facilities for the morning we tried to get drinks from the reception bar, to find you couldn’t get anything at all till 11am, unbelievable, the bar also tried to charge 1 euro for a piece of ice to put in my water, I couldn’t believe it!! Everyone around the pool area were complaining that you couldn’t get a coffee until 11am! This is 💯 not a 4 star hotel, I have stayed in 100s of hotels and this is the worst experience I have ever had from start to finish! We were all looking forward to this holiday and it turned out an absolute disaster!!!!
“Passive reaction of the hotel management to a potential child molester.”
I am making my review after my communication with the hotel management of Ona Palmyra Paguera, in Mallorca, and the subsequent communication with Ona Group in Barcelona (no-one bothered to respond). Me and my family spent our summer holidays in September (Check Out 8th Sep 2024) . There was a child harassment attempt incident, that had as a victim my 9,5 year old son, and was caused by another hotel guest of 65/70 years old, on our last full day in Mallorca, on Saturday 7th September 2024, at noon. The pool toilet and shower are indoor and practically the same room. While my son was taking his shower prior to enter the pool, leaving the door open, the above mentioned hotel guest, entered the toilet/shower, locked the door behind him and isolated himself with my child. Then he undressed himself from the waist below. My rapid intervention (I noticed that my child's shower was taking longer than normal) was crucial to avoid the worse. I banged on the door, my son opened quite confused and the old guy was sitting half naked on the toilet. I was the only one to confront him personally, seconds after the incident, and the lucky part is that all this was a matter of seconds so (I confirmed with my child) that he did not have the time to hurt him. I arrived early enough. I made an official complaint (official written form provided by a hotel employee) to the hotel team (the manager was absent during the whole weekend, nor could he be reached on the phone) and my subsequent communication with the hotel manager, days after our departure and the recorded incident, would have not happened if I had not called him myself persistently. I am emphasizing, unfortunately, on the lightness with which the whole incident was addressed by the hotel management (mainly) and most of the employees (bright exemption one gentleman at the evening reception shift of the day of the incident - 7th Sep). During the first moments after the incident, the lifeguard at the pool, the reception, etc expressed their support, in words, but, practically, nobody moved a finger to even record or communicate the incident internally. I had to file my complaint with a gentleman at the reception in the evening after realizing that the others had done nothing. The worst is that the individual who harassed my child would be enjoying his holidays in Ona Palmyra Paguera (I was told he would stay for 15 days), undisturbed (not even a warning) by the hotel management and personnel even after our departure (the following morning). Our child was lucky that I was there. We prayed, as parents, that, that individual would not harass any other child during his stay, but the ethical and legal responsibility was entirely burdening the hotel. Their overall reaction was pathetic.
“Good breakfast”
Typical holiday hotel. Clean, tidy, no room amenities like a kettle & tea/coffee. It has to be said the staff are brilliant, couldn’t fault them. Breakfast was well set out & catered for everyone. Pool etc was tidy and relaxing without being spectacular.
“Can recommend”
The Ona Palmira is value for money. The location is great - close to the beach and in a quiet location. The bars and restaurants are within walking distance. The breakfast and dinner buffets can be recommended. The dinner buffet has lots of fresh salads, fish and other choices. The service from the staff is excellent...friendly and polite. What we enjoyed was that the main language spoken was Spanish and then followed by English and this made a wonderful change...I didn´t feel as though I was back in Germany. This also meant there were a lot of Spanish Guests.
