Palacio de Arce

A truly lovely hotel. Staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. Very helpful. Arrived early but our room was available. Quiet location but it is on a road which is not busy. Easy parking to rear of hotel with access through a bar terrace into hotel. Spacious modern room with small balcony which is standing only but a welcome touch as only two rooms seem to have one. Well equipped spacious bathroom with large walk in shower. Free bottled water every day. Nice buffet breakfast. Old traditional building with original features but fully modernised inside. Lift available. Would go back tomorrow.

We decided to go out for lunch and Palacio de Arce seemed a good idea based on the reviews we had seen. The restaurant is in an old house that has been beautifully restored and now is both hotel and restaurant. The restaurant is full of light, well designed, and with the whistle and bells of a high level restaurant. Indeed, while there are people in shorts (after all it is summer and we are going through a heat wave) this is a formal place with table cloths, etc. Decoration is minimalist and at the same time classy (i like it!). Service is perfect. They are nice, attentive and not overwhelming. And it works. Again, i liked it. And now the food. We shared two appetizers (tuna tartar and wok de verduras). The tuna tartar was very good: lightly seasoned and relaying on the freshness of the fish. But yes, there are many places that do something similar. The wok de verduras with a poached egg and a curry sauce was however superlative. Amazing. Taste, texture and presentation. Worth to the last bite. Then we had two rices (one with monkfish and one with squid, octopus and seaweed). The one with seaweed is full of flavor and if you like fish you will not regret. The monkfish one is lighter in taste but also nice. Only problem is that they are big and we could not finish it. On the whole a place to visit again, and again. In 2, with 2 glasses of Albarino, water, coffee and a tea €200.

Breakfast was the star of the this property, a bit pricey but had everything you can think of in a buffet style breakfast. Rooms were good and spacious and building was very intriguing since it was an old palace.

Beautiful room and place to stay. Amazing food. Lovely helpful staff. Really recommend it.
