“4.6 stars out of 5”
Superb service. Central location. Beautiful inner garden. Spacious rooms, impeccable room service. Close proximity to the main Asturian seafood restaurants of the town. A gem in the gem country of Asturias. The country which had never succumbed to any other outside rule than the Romans themselves. A sprawling city of Gijon is within 20 minutes drive to the East. Chilly Biscay beaches are 2-4 km away. Good price to quality ratio. Quality breakfast compared to what one could typically expect from hotels on the coastline from Bilbao to Ribadeo.
“Great central hotel , lovely quiet rooms.”
Aviles is a lovely village , the hotel is in a great central location, with secure parking underneath . Awesome value for money. Lovely quiet room overlooking a beautiful large park.
“Great Staff One of the Best Hotels I’ve Stayed In – More Like a Palace Than a Hotel”
One of the Best Hotels I’ve Stayed In – More Like a Palace Than a Hotel I stayed at Palacio de Avilés Affiliated by Meliá and was genuinely impressed. From the moment I arrived, it felt more like staying in a historic palace than a typical hotel. The building is stunning, with beautiful architecture and a peaceful garden that adds to the charm. The location is excellent, right in the heart of Avilés, with restaurants, shops, and the park just steps away. It’s ideal for walking around and soaking up the atmosphere of the old town. My room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable, with a lovely view and thoughtful touches throughout. The food at the hotel was also very good, especially breakfast, which had a nice variety and was served in a relaxed setting. The staff were friendly and professional, and everything felt well looked after. This is easily one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in, and I’d absolutely stay again when visiting the area.
“A 'must stay' hotel, in a lovely city. Great value for money.”
The Palacio de Aviles is in a beautifully restored, centuries old, palace, right in the centre of the old town of Aviles. The common rooms have lovely period furniture and paintings. Just walking down the corridors is a delight, as there is so much to discover. To the rear of the hotel is a very large private formal garden with a terrace where hotel residents can enjoy having a drink. The guest rooms are all quite spacious and comfortable, as you would expect from a hotel of this quality. Despite its proximity to the centre of the town, the whole hotel has an atmosphere of calm and tranquillity. It was spotlessly clean throughout. We didn't eat in the evening restaurant, but the breakfast was good, with various hot food options. The reception staff were all extremely helpful and friendly - they were more than happy to book a restaurant on our behalf and give advice as to places to visit. The location of the hotel couldn't be better. You literally walk out of the main door into the historic main square of Aviles. The hotel has its own spaces in the car park immediately underneath it - a lift takes you straight to reception. Tip - use sat-nav to get into the car park. Then take your ticket and bear around to the right - not down the ramp. This takes you to another barrier - use your newly acquired ticket and drive through to the hotel's own section. Surrender your ticket at the hotel reception and they will give you a different ticket when you need to leave. As you would expect, there is a charge, but it's worth paying for the convenience. This is a lovely hotel, in a very lovely city and when we went, provided excellent value for money.
“My daughter and I had an amazing time and we hope to visit again one day.”
We loved everything about Palacio de Aviles. Being in the heart of the dowtown area made a great first impression. The service was friendly, helpful and efficient. We especially enjoyed the proximity to the bus station which made our day trip to Cudillero super easy and we were just a short taxi ride away from Playa de Salinas. In the evening, the Jardin is beautiful and peaceful.

“Great stay in very authentic former palace at very central location”
We stayed one night as the last stop of our road trip in Asturias. The hotel is situated in the very city central of Aviles and has access to great French gardens that offer a lot of shade. The hotel boasts authentic charm. We stayed in a very spacious room with great beds and clean bathroom. Staff are very friendly, especially at the reception and housekeeping. Very nice breakfast room, amazing buffet with a lot of healthy fresh options.
We had early breakfast because we had to catch a flight. The key card indicated that breakfast opened at 7am, but apparently it was only at 8 am. We signaled at reception but there was little empathy with our message. Moreover, there were a lot of people at that time (related to a city fantasy festival taking place), many of them were very noisy which spoiled a bit our breakfast experience.
