Fantastic location in the mountains, well worth the drive.
Excellent cuisine with a good breakfast selection.
Staff were generally friendly and helpful, but service was below par during busy times.
Great atmosphere and experience despite some service issues.
Standard amenities for this hotel tier, with a cable car nearby.
Rooms are large, comfortable, though some feel dated.
“Good location, good food, poor service.”
A parador set in a fantastic location in the Picos mountain rage. The rooms are large and comfortable and the cuisine is excellent but the service was below par. Our room was not ready for occupation, even although we arrive after 4.00 p.m. and the only time that we were allowed to have breakfast was 8,00 a.m. This was not, in itself a problem but one does like to have a choice. The service i the bar/cafeteria was somewhat slow.
“A scenic location in the mountains.”
Paradors are generally of a very high standard and Fuente Dé is no exception. Very good service and food and a room with a view. Plenty of parking. Reasonable rates. Despite it being a very busy hotel the hotel the staff were very cheerful and welcoming. It's a very scenic location well worth the drive to get there. It seems very popular with British and American tourists as well as Spanish. It is a bit dated and the rooms are a bit tired but nothing that was too troubling to us. The only comment I would make for improvement is that better information and maps of the area should be provided. The map we got at reception was at too small a scale to be of any use so we had to wander around a bit to find a walking track. There is a cable car across the road that goes high into the mountains for those with a head for heights. That wasn't me though. Overall a great place to stay and we would love to go back sometime.
“First stay in a parador”
This was our first experience of a parador and it was great. A really good atmosphere. The staff were all helpful and friendly especially the ladies on reception who kindly helped us with our luggage as my husband was feeling a bit bruised following a fall earlier in the day. The room was lovely with all you would need, clean and comfortable and quiet. We ate in the restaurant and our dinner was very good. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and despite the staff being very busy they were lovely. This parador is also in an amazing location with great views around every turn in the road. Good value for money.Thank you for a great stay.
“Stunning location wand warm, friendly staff”
A perfect location in the mountains with staff who were very welcoming. The lounges and rooms were like staying in a large chalet. Perfect!
“Restful in the "Off Season".”
We stayed here for 3 nights. Check in was efficient and greatly helped by an English speaking assistant who also took us to the room, which had a fantastic view over the adjacent meadows. Room was peaceful and did not suffer from noisy neighbours. We ate in the restaurant twice and were favourably impressed although the waiting staff had their work cut out dealing with customers over the fixed sittings. Breakfast was efficient too although on the second morning our "tortilla con Queso" was not as cheesy as day 1 - different chef I guess. The towels in the bathroom were a bit scratchy, Otherwise a nice stay. Can't imagine what it would be like in the high season. Busy in the extreme I imagine.
“Surrounded by mountains”
If travelling by car southwards from the motorway allow plenty of time as there are extensive roadworks until you get to Potes. Parador easy to find, with plenty of parking. All staff very pleasant and helpful, breakfast and evening meals up to usual Parador standard. Room reasonable size with enclosed balcony and view to mountains, and sheep and cattle grazing in the adjacent fields.Clean, comfortable. Heating in evenings and morning was welcome. Furnishings and bathroom decoration a bit tired. Cable car adjacent to top of mountains, well worth it for the view from the top. Unless you are a keen walker you would not want to stay more than a few nights as there is little else to see apart from scenery nearby, but a very relaxing , peaceful place to spend a few days
