Parador de Jaén

The hotel’s location is truly spectacular—set high on a hill above the town, it genuinely feels like staying in a real castle, which makes for a fantastic and memorable experience. The interior design is beautiful as well, and the bar area is impressively large and spacious, allowing everyone to find a comfortable spot to relax. The rooms were also generously sized and offered gorgeous views. There were just a few small details that could make the stay even better. A kettle in the room would have been a nice addition. We also found that the shower water temperature could be slightly warmer, as it felt a bit cool at times. At breakfast, the selection of fresh vegetables (such as tomatoes or cucumbers) and fruit was quite limited, so expanding this offering would improve the experience.

Jaen Parador was such a wonderful place that the inconvenient road I had to drive through to get there felt like a non-issue. My only regret was that I couldn't fully enjoy the Parador because of the short trip.

Excellent, very friendly and service minded staff. Good food, nice rooms, stunning location, the only thing was that We were unable to lower the temperature, it was preset at 22 degrees, so it was a bit too warm for good sleep.

We stayed for one night. Views were fantastic. The room was good. A little dated but clean, tidy and well maintained. The balcony was good. We had lunch at the cafe, visited the castle and then had dinner at the restaurant. Lunch at the cafe was fantastic and the cafe/bar area is amazing. Dinner was ok. Parking was free. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Whilst the situation of the Parador is unique the quality of some of the facilities leaves much to be desired. The review/survey page that the Parador emails to you provides no space for text and only wishes you to react to survey headers. The room, considering the price is fairly basic. Showering is a hazardous experience as no slip mats are provided and there are no wall handles for safety. The evening mail was a disaster. I ordered a local dish which came a piiece of black pudding stuffed inside a brioche bun with a slurp of goats cheese on the top. My wife had a Lamb dish which was parcelled in some form of intestine: inedible despite being billed as local cuisine. Beware the 'local' cuisine!!
