“Urgent need of revamp”
The best

This was supposed to be good as parador is very famous upscale local chain of hotels. Instead, it’s a hotel that urgently needs refurbishment both in terms of quality of rooms/public spaces and in terms of staff. Wherever you look, things are either old or broken. Customer centricity has left the building as well. Wanted to have coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening and staff was nowhere to be found. After 10 minutes of waiting we got a person for coffee but for drinks they never showed up. Yes views are great but everything is simply not. Do not recommend.

“Ugly building on top of a hill”
The best

Not worth the money. it is outdated and worn. The reception lady was great. The breakfast excellent. I like the 3 levels of sitting area. I dislike motion sensor light in the hallway. I don’t like the heavy key chain .

“Slim pickings in Melilla”
The best

This Parador is not of the chain’s normal standards, but then in Melilla you barely have any competition and choices. My bathroom was yucky with no window and ventilation, so paint was peeling from the ceiling, mold flourished in the caulking between tiles, water leaked every time from the bathtub/shower onto the marble floor rendering it dangerously slippery. Extending into the bedroom itself, it was dilapidated (many broken floor tiles and outdated furniture) and not the cleanest (loose hair found on flat surfaces and dubious stains on the walls). My “Superior” room had a large balcony with pleasant views of Mount Gourougou, but Melilla’s blustery winter winds minimized my use and enjoyment of it during the 1st week of January when I was there. On the plus side, the bed & linens were comfortable, and the Reception staff were responsive and tried to please.

Best hotel in Melilla and we will be back soon. Superb views across the old town, city and port. The sunrises and sunsets were awesome. Lovely food, friendly and attentative staff and well located for clean, fresh air.

“Short Break”
The best

Spent a very pleasant couple of days at Parador de Melilla, peaceful location with good views over the city and surrounding area. Excellent breakfast with options of egg dishes a la carte. only a few minutes walk into the town centre, a few minutes more to the very interesting Melilla la Vieja

“I had no significant issue.”
The best

I stayed at the Parador de Melilla for a 4 night stay of Melilla. I have read some of the other reviews and, yes, its definitely not the most modern of hotels. However, for what I wanted I was not that bothered about this. My room was on the lower floor (-1). There was no view, other than part of the swimming pool and garden. I think it must have been below the reception area/ office, as at night (even in the early hours), you could hear people walking and scraping the chairs along the floor, which was a bit annoying. I booked a single, but was provided with a Twin, which gave me a bit more room. The room was a good size and even if I was with someone else, space would not be an issue. The room had a TV, Mini Bar (fridge, which was handy for keeping my own drinks in), Safe, plenty of sockets (including by the bed... which is always a bonus), dressing table/desk, chair and table. The bed was also very comfy. The room was clean and being downstairs, fairly cool. although the aircon worked well. The bathroom was a good size and again was clean (although, there were some signs that a bit of TLC was needed). There was a Bath/ Shower configuration, which was ok (although, the shower was situated at the side of the bath (not the end), which limited the space to shower). There is free wifi, through out the hotel and it worked well for me (browsing the internet for local places to eat/ drink, visit etc). Breakfast was included in the price of my room (which I booked directly with the Hotel). Breakfast was Ok (Not the biggest of selections, but enough to see me through until lunch time). It is a self service set up, although, I think you can order a cooked option. The view from the restaurant was very nice) over looking the city/ port and beyond. I had a few drinks at the bar, which were reasonably priced and I had a snack from the menu, which was very nice. The staff that I had interactions with, were all friendly and helpful. I didnt use the pool, but had a look and it looked clean and there was a pool attended on duty, at the times that I went to have a look. The terrace was not in use, which was a shame, as it would have been nice to have sat out in the sun with a beer. So in summary, yes, its a bit old fashioned, but this did not spoil my stay. The place was clean and comfy. I probably would stay here again, if I visit Melilla, but would ask for an upstairs room. Although, the hotel is at the top (or very nearly the top) of a step hill, I was able to walk to it from town in just under 10mins (I didnt rush) and I am aware that there are a lot of taxi's in the town. However, the reward for the climb is the stunning view.
