Despite issues, some guests still enjoyed their overall stay.
Beautiful grounds and good location, though access may be steep.
Good amenities available; some noted improvement needed.
Rooms were criticized for poor insulation and outdated facilities.
Mixed sentiments on value; some found it not worth the price.
“Welcoming, comfortable and lovely gardens.”
This is our third visit to the hotel and we will be back. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. There is a kitchenette in every room so you can make your own food if you don’t want to eat out every night. This year we were on the second floor just above the restaurant and no sun on the balcony until late in the afternoon. I asked if next time we could state our preferences when booking and without hesitation we were given another room overlooking the garden with lots of sunshine. Thank you to all the staff who contributed to another lovely holiday.
“First class service”
Very nice place to stay. Stayed for 4 nights and found this place to be very welcoming and helpful. I needed help with a few things and nothing seemed too much trouble. Clean and tidy room (and spacious) with a huge balcony. Free bus to town several times a day from the hotel. Weather good which always helps and a very relaxing break here.
“Lovely place for an Xmas break”
We had such a lovely time here at Christmas. Food is excellent and the staff are all so friendly. Yes, the place is a bit outdated but it's spotlessly clean and the rooms are huge! We had the most amazing view of the hills from our balcony. Our teenager particularly liked the Ghanaian entertainer (didn't catch his name) and look out for the Basil Fawlty character in the restaurant 😀
“Beautiful resort, but a ways away from the south.”
The breakfast is fabulous, the room was clean and up to date, and there are many things around the resort making it a great stay.
We wished the hot tub was available for free.
“Disappointing stay - not as advertised”
The room itself has a stale, unpleasant smell, and there are holes in the bedroom ceiling. The hotel advertises live entertainment, but there has been none during my stay. There are supposedly two bars, yet only one is open, and there’s no clear information about which one is operating. Another issue is the location. There is no mention on the website of the steep hills surrounding the hotel. It is absolutely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or knee problems, this should have been clearly stated. To make things worse, the shuttle bus service doesn’t run from Saturday at 12pm until Monday. This means guests have no choice but to walk everywhere.
“Not worth it - food poisoning, mouses in the restaurant, cockroaches in the rooms and wore out hotel.”
Not worth it, at all. My spouse got food poisoning from the restaurant and in retrospect no wonder, since the next day there was a mouse running around the restaurant. The hotel tried to explain it with surrounding vegetation - there is a lot of it, but it should make the hotel be more careful with their food security, not just a good excuse. Also the buffet is not that fresh, the food might sit there for hours and dry up completely. To top it off, there were cockroaches in our room despite the hotel staff doing some kind of pest control, so we had to change rooms in the middle of the stay. In general, the hotel is in need of renovation and to me it seems that they’re taking better care of the gardens than the hotel itself. No AC in the rooms, though that was not a problem for us, despite the rooms getting quite cold at night. All the female staff working in reception were professional and friendly, the male second boss downplayed my spouse’s feedback. Also, it seems that a lot of pretty rude British people are invading the hotel during Christmas time. Some old lady threw my sandwich to the wall & floor and challenged me to a fight on Christmas morning when she thought that I skipped the line to the toaster. Anyway, ten days with all inclusive here is waste of your time and money. Go somewhere else.
